That still doesnt mean anything lol. There are black markets for everything.
Rhino abd elephants horns are illegal yet still poached even though laws are enforced.. That doesnt stop people from killing them. Whale hunting is banned yet that doesnt stop the Japanese from killing fir research. Long clawed turtles were banned in Virginia yet a local pet store years ago used to sell them still.. Puppy mills are banned yet local pet stores still conduct illegal activity.. You wont stop it trust me |

The above link is the only one that lived for some time. All the ones that where brought here a couple years ago perished but one in Florida. Not sure if it is still alive. Maybe Humaguy knows? |

Lol in Aussie dollars that's getting closer to 25k .. so id rather opt for a new ute unless of course this fish can breathe air/poops diamonds and I can walk it daily with a fishy bag I'm out !!
On a side note I have been seriously considering a gem tang for quite some time I'm thinking in the next 12 months once I upgrade to the 750 XXL I'll pull the pin on one but even the gem tangs are a hell of a chunk of ![]() ![]() I'll more then likely cry though if it doesn't make it through QT ![]() Sent from my 5009A using Tapatalk |

He actually got off pretty cheap like $2,000 fine and a year supervised out of prison watch? The individual was a nice guy and participated here on RC quite often with information, he just made a bad mistake.

to be honest i dont think he did something thats really that wrong i mean ok 40 fish is excessive but he just did what the actual collector does in different circumstances .. with the collector being "allowed" to do it .. i mean like with the way things are going here in australia we will be lucky to be able too wipe our own *** in the next 10 years .. hell if i had the means to try it and potentially make 200k wholesale id consider it too .. not gonna lie .. thats a lot of money.

I'd be a nervous wreck sleeping by my QT if I bought a fish that expensive.

The Clarion Angels are only found in one very small region. There is a small window when collection permits are granted. The weather and seas in getting to the location are very treacherous most of the year. The location is extremely remote and can only be accessed by boat. Depending on who you talk to the boat ride is 3-8 days each direction. For the past 30 years there is usually only one or 2 'collections' of Clarions. When they come in they come in in all sizes. The are beautiful as juveniles, and less attractive (in most peoples opinions) when adults. They are tough fish - Both in terms of being hardy and in terms of being aggressive. These are equivalent of Passer angels. For anyone talking about the ridiculousness of the price. Everything has extremes. You can buy a used Yugo for $500 and drive to work. But when you get to work someone in the parking lot is going to have a Tesla (200x the price) a Bentley (400x the price) or even a Ford 150 Platinum edition (Almost $100k for a truck). Just because the price doesn't fit into your budget it doesn't mean it's not there for someone else.
Clarions at the wild caught Price Point don't sit at the wholesalers for long. I have a friend with (3) Personatus, a Debellius, and an Abei. I also am friends with 2 people who have Peppermints (multiples) doing well for more than 3 years. At least with a Clarion you are talking about a really strong fish. Put it in a tank and it's going to adjust quickly, become the boss quickly and live a very long time. It's probably one of the safer expensive fish out their because they are so tough. Dave B

No, there are a couple in private aquaria from the last batch that are still alive. Well at least a couple months ago they were. And they were more around the $30k mark

Spot on Dave. I do actually like them as adults, albeit their color isn’t as intense as you stated but still nice contrast. But as stated, they are too mean for my taste and way out of my budget but if I had the money that was disposable to that degree I’d probably do one |
