I've ordered a couple more maxijets for more flow in the tank. Those should be in later in the week.

Also, I ordered a complete reef set of Salifert test kits from IslandAquatics.com. I recently purchased a pair of 14k Hamilton MH bulbs form them and am very satisfied. The guy there was awesome and helpful to me over the phone.

They had a special during this past week on the Salifert kits that I could not pass up. $82.45 for all of the following Salifert test kits: Calcium, Alkalinity, PH, Ammonnia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate.

One thing not pictured anywhere is my skunk cleaner shrimp. It's been in for a couple weeks now but stays hiding in the rockwork all day. At night it appears to be scavenging about in the tank. I thought these were very social and active during the day?

Sorry to hear about your first Rose BTA.... But you just helped me greatly.... I also purchased a Rose BTA about two days ago and mine is doing the very same thing yours did.... I aclimated mine for almost 4 hours using the drip method.. I'm taking mine back to the LFS where I got him today.... I bought the same pair of Clowns as well... You've got some great shots of your tank too ... well done. It's great being able to finally add life to my new tank as well ....

Good luck

Looking good Warboc. Look into getting a tunze instead of all the powerheads in the tank, better flow rates etc.. Keep up the good work and keep researching

I actually like the powerheads because I can tweak them more heh... So much of the fun with the tank is always having something to mess with lol...

I need to take them out and make them black with a sharpie though. Mine in old tank are done like that. I will when the new ones come in this week.

Great looking tank so far Warboc. We have somthing in common, we both started a 90g reef in december. I also got 2x 45# fiji from live aquaria, but picked up a 30# of lalo as well. I have about 908w of lighting, because I learned that 90g is kind of a deep tank for a reef. So I got 2x 400w MH and 2x 54w T-5's. Works out nice. Its funny to that we both went to florida pets for macro, I got most of my clean up crew there - did you? My experience with the order didn't go well. I am looking to get some Tunze pumps, and think that its not a bad idea for you ethier. They are ajustable if you buy the ones with the controller. Expensive but very nice. I try to get some pics up of my tank if you would like. Keep up the good work.

necco,

I got my cleanup crew from etropicals.com, using their free shipping option on cleanup crew packages. My lighting is on the low side for now because I am learning how to keep things alive and healthy for now. Thus doing the easier stuff - leathers, shrooms, etc etc. If/when I am up for better stuff, I will move the current fixture to my old 55 gallon. Hopefully I will actually have money again by then LOL.

Where did you purchase your lighitng at Warboc?
What exactly in a tunze pump?
Since i am also lloking into setting up a 90gallon, but i am not looking for the strongest lighting, just want to keep a few SPS towards the top of the tank, an anenome, and a clam or two on the sandbed. So what lighting would sufice this?
And where did you purchase your sumo Warboc?

I purchased my lighting from AquaTraders. I decided to be a guinea pig and try it out. Very inexpensive but nobody really had it at the time. Here is a link:

48" 384W Metal Halide System

The only thing I was not happy with were the free bulbs included. I have since replaced them with hamilton 14k bulbs. Otherwise I am very happy with the lighting.

I bought a 30 gallon tall aquarium and made mys ump with acrylic baffles. Here is my basic design for it:

Originally I planned for my skimmer to be in-sump... When I got it in though and saw how large it was, I decided to plumb it out of the sump to the left.

Thanyour for the link to the lights, what was wrong with the lights that it came with?

You need to refresh page or something. It whould be there.

The two bulbs were putting out different shades of light. If you look early on in this thread, you should be able to see the difference on each side.

I like the layout of your sump, but how do you "glue" those baffles into place?

I used aquarium sealant/silicon that I got from Home Depot. I must say that I am not very good with doing handywork. It was not too difficult though. I ultimately took out the baffle to the far right because my "glue" job was failing. It was only an extra baffle though to cut down on any excess microbubbles. That happened a week after I set it up though and the others have been fine for three months now.

Here are a few pictures of my corals. Feel free to correct me or give me the proper names of some of these. I am going by descriptions from the LFS I got them at for the most part, except for the ones from seacrop.com.

Green Leather from lfs. Also visible is my blue/ghreen mushroom form seacrop.com:

Bubble coral from lfs - I can't get cam to focus on this properly.

Green star polyps to left. There were only about 5 polyps when I got them a few weeks ago. Growing nicely. In the center of the pic is something I got from a local reefer for free. Not sure what it is lol. Grows FAST though. Anyone have a name?

Toadstool Leather, picture does not do this justice, very very nice coral.

Zoanthids and another leather. Also you can see my fish string handywork as I cut a piece of that coral from other side of tank and moved it here. If it works like last one, it should attach within 3-4 days and I then simply remove the string.

RBTA 2/mated percs. Just fed the rbta a silverside, it's still expanding back to full size. You can see my ever-curious six line wrasse sneaking into the picture.

You said that you needed to replace one of the MH bulbs in your lighting fixture b/c it was a differnt color than the other, why was this?
Was that supposed to happen when you purcashed it offline?

The MH bulbs with my fixture were free. Go to the link I provided earlier and read the description. I don't know why they were different colors but they were. Just cheap bulbs? Nonetheless, I replaced them both with new hamilton bulbs.

So if i ordered that set-up from offline though the bulbs would not be different colors, but they would be the bulbs as advertised?

They were the same exact bulbs, both Odyssea 150W MH bulbs. After they burned in, they started putting out different shades of light. They are simply free cheap bulbs that they give you with the fixture. You can repalce them with any brand you like if you do not like them. Which is what I did.
