Ooops...could be I haven't actually tested for iodine in quite a while, but I have been doing 10 gallon changes every two weeks so i guess it wouldn't be that low. I'll test ofr it toda anyhow.

well tested the water on my current tank just to see how bad things were...aieeee (french for ouch)

phospate: 5 mg/l
everything else was normal, although salinity was low at 1.021

Don't know how the hell it went up so fast again. What could be leaching phospates. Am not overfeeding, doing periodic water 10 G changes every three weeks.

Well yesterday changed approx 20G of water, will measure again this evening to see if things are a bit better or not.

any idea on what it could be?

back to the subject at hand...yesterday i received an email from one of my friends here in Jeddah. Told me to get in touch with the LFS he sent my sketches to because the guy needed me to clear up some of the drawings with him.

wasn't there but it gave me a chance to see some of their tanks up close. Not to bad actually but I am just woried about the bracing that they use. On one tank the bracing formed an angle between the front and sides of the glass, running all the way from top to bottom, so you actullay have a double layer of glass in each corner.

Thank god he said it wasnt necessary on mine.

Well yesterday came back from another LFS who manufactures Glass tanks only. Stayed around an hour and a half explaining everything in detail with drawings, and many mnay pictures from Melevs site to show them what a sump actually looks like. Yes it will be there first sump.... total cost here was 5000 SR which is around $1,350. I saw their other aquariums, and it seems that the quality is not too bad, at least they don't leak.

So thursday I'll hopefully be passing by and first payment will be given... then its a three to four week break until its ready

One question for anybody out there, how much flow from the tank to the sump is necessary? Please keep in mind that I can only go with an external overflow...

I also reread the order it was for only one overflow rated at 376 G/H. Is it sufficient??

Well its been a month practically, I still have not received my equipment from France, but have spoken to them and found out that Tunze was out of stock on DOC skimmers.
And since everything I ordered is from Tunze they had to wait to complete the shipment. Plus the shipment is being sent by Tunze directly and it is their first time to ship to Saudi Arabia so customs paper was sort of a problem.

And last of all tank has changed completely...should be getting it by tomorrow...so finally I'll be able to start with the pictures.

Seems no one really likes text.

Ahhhhhhhhhh....sigh of relief.
Picked the tank up yesterday. I wish I had taken my camera with me to show you what you have to go through in Saudi to get a tank.

Well anyhow it was a "you had to be there" kind of thing...but then the tank didn't fit in the elevator and I live on the 2nd floor. 7 people to get it up the stairs including someone we just picked off the street to help us.

Its quite a heavy little fish bowl, so here it is. Drum roll....

Dimensions are as follow 78*26*24 = 210G
The cube is definetly not in the picture anymore and its bigger then planned.

Damn my cat lost her head...

Here is a pic of the cabinet, i think its cherry wood look-a-like finishing but the color will blend in with the rest of the furniture in the dining room...was one of the conditions set by the wife...

Just to show you how clever these people expect us to be...here are the instructions on mounting the cabinet.....now there are around 50 screws, nuts and bolts, and only 6 appear on the visual...

Over the weekend, which is thursday and friday in this country, I'll have to figure out what to do for the sump. I was planning on using my 55, but as you can see from the instructions and the pics there are vertical support panels every 45 cm (18"). So either I'll go down to our local Home Depot and buy everything I need to modify it or I'll have to look into a sump design that can fit.

hmmm looks nice.

Does it have overflows? if not, 2 overflows one in each corner would be nice. Run a refuguim also it would be in your benefit. I run both sump/refuge and nvr had a nuisense algea problem.
That's IMO..

We love pics, Take your time and enjoy you'll love it..

Nope no overflows, have ordered external overflows, the plan was as you mentioned to put them at opposite ends. The problem here is that they don't have tanks with overflows except on special orders. And it takes extremely long as they have to import them from abroad.

As for sump/refugium I will be having one made but have to modify the original size I was considering since i changed the tank.

I'm going to just set up the tank at the moment just so that it can cycle...In the meantime I'll have the sump started and hopefully completed by the time all the goodies arrive.

I don't think my red sea skimmer that is currently running on the 55 will do the trick.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how i can design the sump knowing that the cabinet is divided into four???

So here is te stand in place.

I was going to place it in the dining room instead of the 55, the kitchen would have been in back making it easy for water filling/emptying. But it fit actually better near the entrance, theres a bathroom behind so same thing. Only problem is electricity...

Tick tock...

God never thought it would take that long, checked for leaks as it was being filled. Afraid that it might have sustained some damage in the stairs. But everything is ok...

And here we are two hours later...

I was also checking the stand for any problems as I removed one of the braces...don't worry its still there but not fitted completely, and actually i was shocked to see that it was sliding right out when the tank was full. ill be reinforcing the stand this evening, tried yesterday but the wood I had was not adequate.

And one last thing, that is one BIG fish bowl...yesterday i just sat there for an hour looing at it. Different then seeing it in the LFS...

Dean, I just got the tank, not the time to freak me out

...but yes it has crossed my mind. I checked with the "building supervisor" seems it is ok. Anyhow my neighbors might enjoy the light drizzle from above.

yeah i was wondering about that two, i think i read somewhere that it's safe to put a 125 on a second level, but anything bigger needs extra support from the floor below. But if your building supervisor says it's ok, good luck!

Good luck...it's gonna go through the ceiling or good luck hope you eventually get fish in there?

Supervisor was up in the flat again yesterday to see the tank... no problem.

so did I miss something? I thought you were having a custom cube made??? To bad you couldnt find a tank with internal overflows. Would have made life much easier.

Honestly I don't know what happened gave the design and ended up with a rectangular tank

Actually, it was my wife who made me do it. When she realized how much it would be sticking into the room she said no, so I had to change it. Didn't want to wait any longer so bought a this one. For the same tank with overflows, it has to be a special order which can take up to three months to ship.

Anyhow I am quite happy with the finishing on it. I am quite shocked though at how "petite" the stand is. Doesn't really look like it can hold it up, that's why I am reinforcing it internally.

And yes the floor will hold up...
