check everything youbuy over thuroughly, you may just find something made in the USA.
Slightly unrelated but a few years ago Sorrel boots were made in both Canada and Korea, and the Koreans were skimping on insulation so you had to pay close attention when you were buying boots so you wouldn't be cold. |

I have a CUSA 4x65W Extreme. I love it. I have them on PowerCenter timers. Plug and play, baby. No shocks, no nothing. Just plain beautiful.
One advice, you will get shocked at ANYTHING plugged because there's this thing called electricity that will jolt you. However, if an electrical appliance is unplugged, there's a good chance that no electricity will be running through it. ![]() Just kidding. CUSA is, in my opinion, an affordable way for starter reefers to have a decent dual daylight, dual actinics, and white moon light. |

Salt creep will carry an electrical current. NEVER remove a ground probe Light covers are there for a reason. Just clean them monthly you bum! If that don't fix it, check your house wireing for errors. HD sells aan outlet tester for about $4. It will test your positive, neutral, and ground. They even make one with a GFI test button. Very handy because I have fixed some shady work in my field. be safe, Nathan

FWIW, I have two 36" Orbit, 1 24" Dual Satellite and 1 20" Dual Satellite and I've never had a problem other than salt creep. The company may deliver horrible service or fail to follow through on commitments or even be American-hating, foreign-sourcing psychos for all I know -- but their products have worked beautifully for me.
:> (and Bugs Nathan -- congrats for being real! You gotta keep your equipment clean. Otherwise, c'mon guys, it's massive voltage in close proximity to huge quantities of saltwater! Doesn't take a rocket scientist....) ![]()

I was considering one of their 36 inch HQI hoods, is there anything better anyone can recommend in that price range?

I know a LFS here in VT refuses to carry Current products due to "their high failure rates and lack of company support". Maybe Vermont folk are just plain unlucky when it comes to Current products.

China Inc. Third world to me. I make a concerted effort to buy US/Swiss/German/Japanese or Italian products when ever possible.
I have four products from Switzerland and couldnt be happier with their outsanding quality. If you are in the market for a View camera, a Watch, drill, or clean room grade air purifier they wont let ya down. ![]() |

I didn't know much about current products before I ordered my Dual Satellite, but I have to say, I have been happy with it in the 2 years that I have had it. I myself try not to buy imports, but sometimes domestic is just too darn expensive. I have to say, I am pleased with Current so far.

I too have never had a problem with my Current USA products. I did get a little jolt though from my aqualight PRO (coralife) but only once...I thought it was going to be a reaccuring thing but I bumped it again with my hand in the water...and nothing. It was a one time deal, but one to be cautious about in the future...with any product. But I have loved CUSA for so long now that I think I will stick with them from now on. I have recently gotten the 24g AquaPod with 70W SunPod. It does have an *** load of moonlight (not really sure why?), but it is a beautiful light to me. I love it already. I prefer the blue for the moonlight cause that many white LEDs seems to bright to be moon like, it's just a low light at that point. But again to answer the question about the SunPod...I'm still testing to see how well the growth is, it is only 70W but it's a smaller tank. they have a 20" 150W that I may end up getting, but gonna hold out and see how things go. I do like the 14,000K though and think that I will get this fixture in the 36" size for my upcomming 58g tank. The 14,000K take away the need for actinics, they are blue enough...but the fixture is only the size of a regular Orbit (not "orbitz"...that's gum) so You CAN fit some retro fit PC's in a hood if you need to. But We shall see. So far though I would highly recommend the SunPod.

Remember, unplug your appliances before you start playing with them! It's just like a toaster, but not.
