only problem is that it will be a purple encrusted thing in a few months. if your putting it in reef. fish only tank would be better due to less coraline growth due to lack of calcium. again i wouldnt add anything that uses glue ..snap on model would be ok but even then some plastics not intended to be in water all the time will leach stuff into the water and that would kill everything. get a few feeder goldfish and put the plastic model in a bucket with them. add an sir line and see what happens. if it is gonna leach youll see it in 48-72 hours. there will be stuff on the surface of the water and the goldfish would be dead. testing this in saltwater or freshwater doesnt matter. you are testing weather its chemical make up breaks down when in water. thus if it leaches. good luck.

although, super glue is harmless in your tank. i have been using it for years to anchor down star polyp matts.

I did this a few years back. Looked great IMO. Decent sized model of a Corsair. I cut it with a modeling knife into broken sections and placed them all within a set proximity of each other as if it had crashed. Had the tail section sticking out of the rocks, one wing standing up out of the sand bed, etc. Might be able to find the pics and scan them in but it is doubtful, moved a few times since then and life was more crazy then than it is now. Will look though.

go for it, if you do it right, I think it looks great and people look at it and try to fig out what it is after it is blended in with all the coralline and all.

alright i'm going to give it a try will put it togher with super glue and soak it for a month in regular fresh water to "cure it " just in case before i put in reef and after it is covered or encrusted or whatever you want to call it i can always take it out later if i don't like the look.

still would love to see a pic of this if anyone has done this before and taken a pic of it

Cut some holes in it so your small fish can use it as a shelter.
Couldn't you see a blenny sticking his head out of a hole in your ship?

ok i bought a couple models last night a 1:200 scale PT boat and a 1:72 scale Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat . I like the looks of the plane a lot more so i will be going with that one. my current tank is only a 10 gallon so thats the reason of the small size of the models.
am getting ready to start making a lot of rock for a future larger tank so if this looks good i will put in a much larger model in the next tank
