i think the word he was looking for was "macro". i wouldnt suggest removing all of your substraight at once or syphoning your sandbed which could cause what little biological filtration you have to collapse. i would however remove the cc. do it in thirds at a time instead of all at once so the bacteria have time to colonize in the new sand before you take out the other old portions of cc.
also i agree with mbbuna. you should slow your feeding down a fair amount. watch your fish. if food is hitting the bottum and drifting under rocks, your feeding to much. a fuge is a good idea as well. it will help in keeping nitrates at a decent level but as said earlier, its better to confront the cause rather then put a band aid on the repercusions of the original problem. good luck |

How good is your seaclone working?

I need to constantly adjust it but seems ok I guess. I have read the thread about modifying the seaclone but haven't tried it yet.
I have to empty the cup about every week and it is only 1/4 to 1/3 full |
