Bummer...........

Once the housing cracked the copper wire in the powerhead could have been exposed and caused most of the damage to your corals. Get some polyfilter inline ASAP. Carbon is not effective at removing copper.

Good Luck,

<-- Another Rio victim. 3 years of established reef killed off in an instant. All fish, all corals (except 2 - which I will never get rid of)...

Horrible mess.... Never again.

Rio, Seio, anything by TAAM will not ever live in my tank. Those of you with Seios and no problems (yet) should heed the warning.

RIOS are not UL listed. Maxijet, Mags are UL Listed so thats why they are better built.

its unbelievealble. I had one melt down in my salt mixing station, but never any livestock loss.

Depending on how much livestock you have lost, I would consider sueing the company. If you have the purchase reciept, I would definatly consider a law suit-- not only will you slam them for youre live stock- but it will make clear to alot of people not to use their puimps.

asd, I'm sure Taam has that angel covered. Most manufacturers only warrant their product, not incidental damage. They will always hide behind their assertion that the pump wasn't maintained / used properly.

Why? What evidence do you have? I've seen SEIOS apart, and theyre epoxy filled, with no oil, so they can't possibly nuke a tank like this. Your post amounts to nothing more than propaganda.

That being said, the rios are crap.

Actually, most of the newer RIOS, including the Hyperflows, are UL listed. The old ones arent, and those are generally the ones that fry tanks.
