Chances are, that I won't be at many meetings in the foreseeable future. I think the club is in better hands than mine, anyway, even if I did want to go to every single meeting.

I've heard about a place on Marine St, and I've driven down that street many times, but I never saw the place (maybe never noticed?). All I've heard about them is that they won't do business with hobbyists anyway.

There is a fairly new pet store at 915 Carmans Rd in Massapequa called Animal House Pets and Aquarium. It's in the Pathmark Shopping Center, Carman Plaza. The phone number is 516-798-3940.
I have found the owner of the store, Sheng, to be really helpful. He doesn't have a lot of stock, but what he has looks healthy to me and he'll special order, too. They will also give a 10% discount to LIRA members on most things.

Nice list. Some stores I'de heard of, but did not know where to find.

Is it possible to set something up so we could have a thread under each store name to comment and share our experiences?

Anyone know of a store in west hemstead 17N off the southern state. I was there once and they had a nice coral selection. I want to stop in but forgot the name and exactly where it was.

Sounds like a good idea, but LIReef would probably want sponsorship money for advertisement like that.

Heh, you knew Brian?
I just talked to him yesterday. He's a great friend of mine. He hasn't touched anything related to fish tanks in years and he was complaining about it to me yesterday. I'll get him back into it.

You have to have a business license to purchase animals from the place in farmingdale and it has to be for the aquarium industry. Otherwise Steve will deny you access.

Yeah I used to go to his and Connies house in Valley Stream when he was doing it in his basement. Incredible stuff. Very long ago. Tell him Tom said hello.

Tom,
It's funny you mentioned that. We were just talking about his setup in Valley Stream. I'll tell him you said hello.

He opened a full wholesale outfit in Massepequa after that for a short while. Took over Wheelin Willy's place on Broadway. It closed after another (evil) company stepped in and forced him to close. That was about 9 years ago.

IMO you have Aqua Hut & Petswarehouse.com.

Not necessarily in that order. The others are small or inconsistent or worse high priced (CC)

For what they have, its ok. Brian's seems to always have healthy fish of the most popular types, and decent prices, just not a big selection. Yesteray they had firefish for 11.99, purple firefish for 20, yellow tangs of various sizes 19.99-49.99, etcetera.

OK, does Aqua Hut normally pick up their phone, or are they closed Sunday?

I can get it for you, but you have to have a business license to purchase animals from him. Or at least that's how it's supposed to work...
