I can't see how you could have a healthy DSB in an LFS. Here's a link for Bill's Reefs, his stuff is very healthy and has an amazing population of critters:
http://billsreef.safeshopper.com He has his live sand on for $2.99/lb now, I think it's a bargain. I was also told I'd need to replenish mine from time to time but it has more activity in it now than ever, no dark spots, etc. I was referred to him by Dr. Ron Shimek, he's a guy that knows a good bit about DSBs, probably the foremost authority. And since my goby is in my show tank, not the fuge, you might want to listed to those who have tried it. By the way, bristle worms are beneficial, can't/won't hurt fish. I have one about 6" long that was a hitch hiker from my original live rock, looks creepy but you only see him at night with a flashlight. I have tons of 'em in my fuge as well.

Dazed,
So you disagree about getting rid of the goby? I am headed to that site now for some reading. TOO MUCH INFORMATION IS MAKING MY BRAIN SIZZLE. |

You should not put any animals that will disturb the sand bed aggressively. The stirring has to be done by detritivores not fish .When you have a DSB, you are limited to certain animals to put in your tank.Do a search on deep sand beds you'll will find a lot of articles.

Okay I am convinced I need to remove the goby.
my detrivores I have (commonly referred to as cleanup crew RIGHT?) is fine but I should get some established live sand to add to mine. Is this a correct assessment? |

Read Ron's articles on detrivores, the link on the LS is pretty good offer, but I still feel that you would be better off contacting your local fish club and skipping shipping charges. JMO

I am having trouble finding anyone in my area at this time. I have asked and will see if anyone shows up. Is the sand sold at the link the right stuff to help seed my sand?

So in your oppinion will the sand from bills reef . com gove me life back that the goby has taken away. Or are you saying get rid of the goby and order the detrivore package that link was given in an earlier thread?

If you can't find anything local then go to billsreef. And yes, regardless of the situation loose the goby.

So either locally or through bills reef the sand will be fine to seed mine. I saw the detrivore package someone earlier recommended is that for seeding also or is that different than the live sand from Bills or locally?

Bristleworms are good as long as you dont get over run by them. They can get out of hand if you overfeed. Otherwise they are a good addition to the tank.
I doubt that the goby has depleted the life your sand bed in a matter of days. It cant hurt to reseed the live sand, but more than likely your sand bed is already full of life. Especially if its been going for six months. What are you going to do with the goby?

I was just wondering, no need to be sarcastic. I thought their may be some people on RC in your area who may be interested, if you happened to have a hard time getting it back to the LFS. Not all LFS are willing to take back livestock.
I was just trying to be helpful!

Thanks!! I guess, I just didnt get it. It was nice of you to apologize. Eventhough you were only joking around. I guess I over reacted a bit. Sorry, I normally catch on.
Anyway, did you have any luck getting it out of the tank yet?
