I did go for the acrylic plate.
I made it with a 4,5 cm height, glued plate to pvc tubes with acrifix. As I need some extra height in cabinet for the helix cleaner i did not want to build it higher. You can see from picture that this would have been preferred, but I get a downstream from skimmer cup to my waste collector if moving the grey tube connection.
