Well today is the day that I take the sump off line and start up the sump in the garage!

I have lots to do yet...if things go well it will take most of the day.

Just taking a break for a bite to eat.

Old sump & manifold are out.

Next;

get Dart and it's plumbing out of crawl space and out to the garage.

Plumb the manifold and Dart into the system in the garage.

I'm going in.......

I finished for the night around 8:30, that was fun.....

Oh well....it had to be done. I'm making up more water so I can bring the other tanks on-line. I just have the new sump running right now.

Here is a couple pics from when I stopped for something to eat at 11. I had to take the end of the cabinet off to get the sump out.

I was called into work tomorrow so I will have to work on it in the afternoon, it will give me some time for the S/W to mix.

Wow is the Dart ever loud, I didn't notice when it was in the CS. I think I will change it out with my back up and see if there is a difference.

You're going to love having the sump and equipment removed from the tank. Its so much easier to work on things that way. I already miss the fish room from my old 140g setup; now I have to make sure i'm cleaning up my test kits when I'm done!!

yes I already like it out there, it's way quieter in the house now.

I changed out the dart with my spare Dart and it's way quieter too, I guess I'll have to look into what the problem is and rebuild it if possible.

I'll try and get a pic or two up today if I have time. We are going camping this afternoon so we'll see.

I arrived home from camping about a hour ago to find Water all over the garage floor!

The tank I was using as the soon to be refugium cracked.

Everything seems to be ok livestock wise, not so sure on the controllers and Dart. They got wet and the Dart is not working at the moment.

Looks like it's going to be a long night.

Oh no sorry!!! Well if it makes you feel better my 375g was leaking at the bulkhead on Friday and I couldn't fix it. Had to totally drain it!

No worries, not the end of the world.

I put the original Dart back on-line, I lubed the barring a bit and it's a bit quieter now but not like the one I just wrecked.

So everything is all running again, except the fuge of course. The salinity is a bit low (1.021-ish) but I'll bring that back up slowly over the next couple days. I'm glad I only had a bit of water in my top up water container.

All in all not too bad considering, I'm glad it was in the garage not in the house. Just a wet floor and a dead Dart so far....

On a positive note my new skimmer seems to be kicking but.

if it hasn't been too long, you might try bathing the Dart in alcohol. This has worked for me in the past.

Can you elaborate? Rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl)? Take the housing off and pour it over it?

You have to hate loosing a good pump. It may dry out though and begin working, but even if it does the service life will be sharply reduced. At least was only your soon to be fuge that cracked! And it was in the garage!!

yeah, rubbing alcohol. open up the motor and give it a good bath. I think by now it's probably too late, but alcohol is cheap. If you got enough together, dunking the entire motor in it might work.

Yeah it's been a crazy few months!

I was involved in a near death thing at work in July and just last week my daughter Mackenzie was brought into the world.

The tank has been slowly declining, lost a few more sps colonies but it's still OK I guess and I'm about 3/4 the way done my fish room in the garage.

I think I need a tank upgrade to inspire me or get out before it declines further to a crash.
