I am using a A150 H&S skimmer. The top section of my impeller - ceramic shaft broke off (aquabee 2000/1 pump). As the ceramic shaft and the impeller are a single piece. can this be repaired or where can I find a replacement.

Or can I buy this pump and use the impeller as my replacement and have a new pump as spare.

I've been searching for a while on the suggested water depth of the 150-F2001.. The H&S website says minimum 100mm (about 4 inches) but that can't be right.. Thanks

I have a question about my H&S 90-1000 when I switched it back to my 33 gallon cube it vibrated very badly so I am soaking it in vinegar. This impeller has the two red and white bearings one on each end my question is are there any spacers or washers on the impeller. Thanks in advance

I purchased a used H&S 200-1260 to replace my MRC MR2 and I absolutely LOVE this skimmer. I put my Dwyer RMA-22-SSV meter on it and I am getting a rreading of 15 lpm or 900 lph. This is average because it is jumping from 13-17. When I pinch down on the air tube going to the skimmer it doesn't actually increase the air flow as I read it did for some other people. It does stabilize and only jump between 14-16 and then it starts to decrease the more I pinch it. Any ideas or suggestions? Should I just run it wide open since that is where I am getting the most air flow?

Control the air so you can control the size of the bubbles. Also check for turbulence at the neck.

Guys I just found a problem with the ceramic washers. They can still wear out like the SS ones if there is too much gap between the washers and the ceramic shaft. Whats worst its it wears out the shafts too (fortunetly very cheap to fix). Im gonna try and put a delrin washer between the ceramic washer and the rod on both ends to see if this helps. Need to try and avoid ceramic to ceramic contact (only ceramic can wear out the ceramic parts).

I'll post pictures tonight. Obviously I won't know if this works without long term testing but atleast my pump is still running cooler without the ss washers and theres no metal debris wearing out the magnet.

When you say "gap", do you mean between the impellar and rubber grommets? Isn't there a substantial gap to start with? Or do you mean the hole size of the washer?
Would 4 ceramic washers on each end help?

Not a very good picture. But you can see the wear on the shaft. The old ceramic washers ended up having an oval hole vs a round hole.

I manufacturered a delrin washer with a shoulder on it. It basically sits between the shaft and the ceramic washer so that the washer never touches the shaft. Ceramic to ceramic contact is a big no no.

So far its holding up pretty good.

It is difficult to get a hold of Brian at Fins Reef I would also try to call, I got lucky twice doing it that way and I got lucky on a email also. H&S is not doing much business here anymore.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement aquabee 2000/1 external? All of the hardware that mounts the pump to the skimmer is cemented on, and I can not find a source to order an external pump, or ideally just the hardware needed for a regular aquabee needle wheel.

I just sent a second email to Fins Reef, its been 4 weeks.

Are there any alternatives? Does the deltec external fit on an H&S A150?

Dave

I spoke too soon. I got a very quick response to my 2nd email.

Very helpful, as expected.

Well I decided to take the pump apart just to do an inspection. Things are holding up as long as the ceramic washers don't touch the shaft. After more thoughts on the subject I decided that ceramic washer just doesn't seem like a right solution. I apologize for those that bought ceramic washers. For those that are using let please inspect and let me know how things go.

In the mean time I've removed all ceramic washers and replaced with delrin washers. I think PTFE can also be used (mcmaster.com) part number 95630A235. Only $4! shipping will probably be higher. I didn't buy any so please measure before buying. I'm gonna run my delrin washer for another 3-4 months and will report back here.

Update on my H&S 90-1000 I would like to thank Brian for going beyond the call of duty on this skimmer I was having problems with the pump I had to turn the skimmer all the way down just to get the bubbles up to the neck I was not impressed with skimmer I had Brian check it out a couple of times so he finally just sent me a new pump WOW I had to turn the skimmer to the lowest setting or it would overflow the cup. Now I am actually dumping the cup instead of cleaning the neck. Thanks again Brain.

Does anyone know if there is a good substitute skimmer pump for an Eheim 1260? I have been repairing the plastic needle wheel for a while. Finally I decided to put the nice metal paddle impeller in there. It's working great, but now my other needle wheel is broken. I decided to buy a replacement paddle, but now eheim makes them from plastic now too, and still charge $50. What a ripoff. I need an option, other than waiting a ridiculous amount of time for a cheap plastic spare part.
