Ok, so I thought I would finally break down and post some pictures of my 29g and 8g biocubes. But considering how much of a hassle it is to post a pic from my sidekick, y'all will only be getting a fts of my 29g. It is about 5 months old, stock lighting, sr3 skimmer, koralia 1, 35lbs live rock, live sand (ns how much), and a ton of inhabitants. For the most part, I really like these tanks, there are obviously a few things the could improve. I will be changing the lighting to a 150w sunpod in a few weeks. But, yeah, here you go.

Oh, and rayster2000, you should always research and ask questions before buying livestock. I doubt the foxface would really do anything about the algae cycles you get when you start a new tank anyway. Not to mention the poor thing is most likely miserable in there. But like most things in life, the only way to learn is the hard way.

thanks everyone

but is the bio cube really that much better than other aquarium kits?

I've never used any of the all-in-one systems, so mabey someone else can chime in.

Mine works great for me though

for my BC29.....where should i put my heater???

im using a stealth 100w heater and for now that im cycling the tank...i have it in one corner of the display tank. i've read here that your heaters were either in the 3rd or 1st chamber. i tried but it wont fit. the 1st chamber is not deep enough because of that tray/floor in there. with the 3rd chamber...the level of the water is not enough to reach the line on my heater. is the heater ok in the display tank??? how can i put it in the back chambers???

thanks!

Push out the floor in the first chamber. Don't worry, you will not break anything. This is a MUST for all BioCube owners IMO. Debris gets trapped down there and adds to your nitrates. After removing that little plastic false floor, the heater will fit fine.

Hello Folks,

Just found this thread and read all 20 pages. Good stuff!!

I want to upgrade my lighting on my 29 gallon Biocube so that I can keep some hard corals. I was thinking of the Current USA SunPod 20" 150W. Will this do? Can I mount it on the 29 gallon BioCube with the included "legs" (I REALLY don't want to suspend it from the ceiling)? Any other suggestions?

Also, I have some "jumpers" in the tank, so I need a pretty tight lid. I was thinking glass canopy, but would prefer something less breakable. Any other ideas? By the way, is there a ready made glass canopy that fits the 29 BioCube, or would I need to have it custom cut?

I would really appreciate your input!!
THANKS!

I don't know of any pre-made lids for the Biocube. They come with a hood for a reason.

Don't know how much light you're looking for, but check out www.nanotuners.com . They offer a lighting upgrade kit that will allow you to use four PC bulbs instead of the two it comes with. Much more light output, while still retaining the stock hood. Sure it's no sunpod, but it is a lot of light.

^^^ Is that a question?

If so, yes. The 4.36 kit. I have two 10k bulbs, one 50/50, and one full actinic.
