Hopefully you are correct and if so, I would love to know what it is.

It was shown in a video but I am not sure if it is available via the software from the get go. Probably in a later software update, who knows.

yeah in the video they clearly show it using a vnc client....some kinda web vnc client...

i was commented 2-3 pages ago about it, it does seem a little primitive to be honest.

Please keep the info coming in as you all get/install them. I'm done hearing about the size of the head unit. It's big so you don't get connections wet. I want this as I jump in my tank and splash around all the time.

Looking to see pictures, ah ha moments, issues unheard of, what your connecting to it, overall opinions, etc. etc. I'm in the market for a controller so want details. Thanks!

Vnc

The VNC app is preloaded as shown in Reef Ross' YouTube video and the laptop was running Firefox.

Like one poster commented, it's hard without a physical back key on the iPad or iPhone.

I like the touch screen. It's large size isn't that big of a deal. Funny how Apex took a jab at the cerebra with the video advising users to use the Amazon fire tablet. They claimed it reduces costs lol. They can still reduce their cost even further

What Neptune meant is it a controller's screen will not be able to compete with tablets these days in regards to their price($33 for the Fire), design and features. The option to allow you to find a display that you prefer is valid. If you want the display, it would be an extra $99, so it does increase costs. I personally like a screen with the unit in addition to a tablet to manage the controller from far, while laying on my couch.

Cerebra users could also get a tablet in case they want to mount the unit away from the tank, or didnt have room inside the stand for it.

Any idea where VNC is located in there? I watched the video and didn't see VNC preloaded though I could have missed it.

There seems to be a Cerebra Exclusive Forum running, according the Vertex's Facebook page. Although it is a cool idea, the restriction to owners only(serial number) could block potential customers looking to learn from owners common concerns brought up from threads such as this.

A forum that is read only for current buyers via serial number? Seriously? So they use open source but close source information?

I found it. Kind of weird since I already looked in the MyApps folder and scrolled all the way to the bottom yesterday. I guess I missed it or it was in an update.

forum.cerebra.club

From Vertex Facebook Page
Cerebra Club Forum is now online! You can register with your Cerebra Serial Number. The serial Number is located underneath the barcode on "Prima" packaging. You will be approved in less than 24 hours and an activation link will be emailed. Follow the link, change your password and complete your profile.

Please note, this forum is exclusive to Cerebra Club Members.

I do not like that it is exclusive, they should have made it open to everyone. Do not understand why they did that but we will wait and see.

Manipulating and programming via VNC using an iPad is pretty much impossible. I added the RealVNC app to my iPad and was able to log in without issue however scrolling through the menus doesn't appear to work well if at all. You can go into the menu's and hit the buttons but there doesn't appear to be a home button so going back is impossible. Maybe I am missing something. I will read up more on the VNC app. I do have an Android tablet so I will load VNC Viewer on that and see if it's any better. I expect a VNC viewer on the PC will work better and will test that later this weekend.

I think Vertex is prob sick of all the negative talk regarding launch, size of head unit, premature reviews...typical of new products(especially controllers) and want to block some of that making a community of owners only through their unit's serial numbers...

Although i can understand their side and know they must have put lots of effort to launch this controller, closing out others including competition can limit sales.
Like they stated in the last video, honesty and transparency through the community will lead to a large network of owners. Blocking criticism(good or bad) can hinder growth.
I can say by experience their main competitor eyes these forum threads everyday, and that is their gauge to how the public responds to the product. Changes and improvements can come from that criticism.

Not to mention competitors(like every company in equipment sales in this country) must already have a cerebra, reverse engineering it, looking at its faults, qualities and already becoming a member of the Vertex community, making public what happens with the specific product. Secrecy is impossible with the internet

They should have made a section of the forum member only if they wanted.

Agreed - in their video they made a big point of saying they were open source and releasing it as a public beta in or to be open, transparent and honest. A closed support system is certainly not open and transparent.

Regarding the cost of a separate touchpad, it's clear that Amazon is selling the Fire tablets well below cost, so there's no way Vertex, Apex or anyone else could come close to matching the price. This combined with users' varied preferences for screen size, interface, etc makes it a very logical decision for them not to supply a secondary touchscreen just for remote access; they would only get financially burned.

So the naysayers and Neptune fanboys don't ruin it for those who actually own it...

Makes sense.

Probably because it's purpose may be to hash out the issues with it being a beta release without all the inherent bashing that an open forum brings.

Moderators can deleted messages / ban trolls.

I just don't think that is the correct way for Vertex to move forward.

They will be pushing away potential buyers who want to see exactly how others are enjoying the device and what issues they are having when making their decision on which controller to purchase .
