Unfortunately, I do not provide analysis of aggressive fish tanks. Please try the aggressive fish forum.

Yesterday I asked you about catalina gobies and I was curious if you think that a blue spot jawfish would be okay if i kept the water temp in the high 60s.

Yes, 69-72. But they need significant infrastructure in the manner of sand and empty shells. I would go a bit larger tank size if combining the two. Perhaps 30 gallons.

Cool, I was thinking of upping to a 40 gallon breeder and obviously doing a bunch of research on the jawfish before doing any of this.

Thanks again.

Possible green banded goby

Hi I have a 30g tank with a pair of clowns and a yellow watchman goby.
I was hoping to add a green banded goby and possibly a firefish? or a possible kaudern's cardinal .

Thanks for your help.

The next stage is bonding and it is at this point that other juveniles or other clownfish are killed or harassed to the point of jumping. At this point the circle of aggressive behavior will widen and depending on species require 25 to 50 gallons of tank space. Amphiprion ocellaris and A. percula are the least aggressive whereas "redder species" will want to control more space. This is the "downside" of sexually mature clownfish that most people do not realize until they experience it.
Much appreciation the explanation, as well as for commenting on the rest of my stock list. Thanks again for giving of your time and experience to the hobby.

It depends on age and species of clownfish. The green banded goby should be fine, the firefish may be intimidated by the clownfish. A tank raised kaudern's cardinal fish should be fine.

My 90 gallon is cycling with 90 lbs of live rock.

My wish list needs to be pared. I'm wanting to start with the Flasher Wrasse and 3 PJ Cardinals. Can you tell me if my selections will get along with each other and/or what must be changed?

I really appreciate it.

1 pink diamond Watchman goby

McKosker's Flasher Wrasse

Lawnmower Blennie

Pink Skunk Clown

Electric Orange Hermit Crab

Banded Coral Shrimp

3 Rock Flower Anenome

Condy Anenome

3 firefish red and white for long term stability, if more than 1 firefish, they must be a mated male plus female pair, otherwise only one will remain. Flasher or cleaner wrasses may harass

1 long nosed hawk not shrimp safe

1 pink diamond Watchman goby

McKosker's Flasher Wrasse

Lawnmower Blennie

Pink Skunk Clown one of the more aggressive clownfish

Black Cap Basslet

3 PJ Cardinals

Red Serpent Star

Long Spine Urchin will knock stuff over

Electric Orange Hermit Crab

Banded Coral Shrimp can take fish

3 Rock Flower Anenome can take fish

Condy Anenome will not host clownfish

Bulb Anenome will only host very specific species of clownfish
Hammer Coral

Frogspawn Coral

Maidenhair

Acan Corals
Bioload is fine but I would only have one species of anemone (although that is outside the scope of this thread)

The clown fish are Ocellaris and are juveniles but just starting to do their dance. I was a bit worried about the green banded goby with the watchman, but assume their OK then?

Yes, it should be fine as they do not occupy the same ecological niche. The green banded goby will perch and move around whereas the watchman is a sand dweller and if paired with an Alpheus Randal pistol shrimp will be a burrow dweller.

C. solorensis can be somewhat aggressive to "blue based" fairy wrasses but should be fine with the established fish in your system. They will, however, lose some coloration over time absent a female.

-mandarin goby after 9 months maturity

another tang with an established powder blue may be difficult

Currently have a 75 gallon mixed reef tank. Running a Trigger Systems Rube 30 sump with a Reef Octopus Diablo 160 skimmer. My current stock list is.

Purple Firefish
Red Head Goby
Bicolor Blenny
Two Chalk Bass
McCoskers Wrasse
Tomini Tang

Would either a Black Cap Basslet or Royal Gramma Basslet be an issue with what I have?

Could be an issue with the chalk bass, at least in this sized tank.

Two tangs in that sized tank would not be a good idea.
