Re: lumenbright over acrylic

your tank sounds like mine. I have acrylic and the bulbs are 12" from the surface.....I think. I'll have to look back and see for sure, but I'm almost 100% sure of that. I havnt noticed any issues as of yet and i've been running them for a few months now. |

finished Lumenbrite
I think I remember someone wanting to know when the finished black shell Lumenbrites were coming out. I was looking around reefspecialty.com and had noticed he is carrying the Lumenbrite reflectors with the finished outside. They look pretty nice. I believe they are available in double ended also. I got my reflectors from him and got great service.

Ok, stupid question for you guys. I just bought the lumen brights and the 12k reeflux bulbs. What are you guys meaning by nipple up on the halide bulbs? I just want to make sure I am getting the best par possible so I want to make sure I am putting them in the way you guys are describing.

When you look at the inside of the bulb you will notice an area were the glass comes out of the interior portion, that should face up, the smooth portion should face down.

I'm running Refflux 12K and they need replacing.
Where can I purchase the LuminBrites and Bulbs only? I have the mogul sockets and ballasts already. Since I need new bulbs, I thought, why not go ahead and get the reflectors also. TIA

At this time Reef Specialty is selling them for $99 after the Grand opening Discount. Reef Specialty also doesn't charge a box fee.

Im trying to put this thread together in my head and i keep geting a liitle unsure. I need some help from you guys who seem to have a handle on this refector.
I'm planing a propagation system The Tank size will be 96" x 30" wide the depth will be 20" but have "tables" inside the tank to bring the corals to just below the surface. Efficiency is big for me. so i was plaining on using Three or Four 250 or 175 watt metal halides. I'm up in the air about which reflectors to use. My goal is 300-400 PAR at 10" of depth. So I'm basically looking for a reflector that will give a wide pattern 24" or 30" square 10" below the water. The lights can be as high off the tank as needed, is this the right reflector for me?

From earlier test a few pages back I believe they were getting about that much par on xm 20k's when the bulbs were 21" from the surface.

I'm just having a time with trying to put this info together in my head. So do you think this is a good choice of reflector for my desired wide shallow pattern? Thanks
