The new tank is 60x30x26 or 28. I have a 48" illumina 260 that will be about 6" above the water surface similar to yours. However as mentioned before, I feel that the spread doesn't really cover the width efficiently so I added the 2 illumilux blue strips.

Currently I have my lights set to 50/85/90 (W/B/RB) or the blues are 90 and royal blues are 95, can't remember exactly what I left them at.
I did purchase 2 Red aux modules however only one is functioning. I am waiting to receive a new one to replace this faulty module.

Thanks for all of the help from everyone here. I don't think this is going to be the right fixture for my setup.

Have people noticed better color using the red aux modules? I know some people complain about reds seeming more brown under LED lights. Have the red modules helped bring out the colors better?

What % are people running the white led at?

I'm going for more of a 20k spectrum but my tank is cycling so I have the lights turned way down to prevent any algae outbreaks.

White 8%
RB 50%
Blue 50%

i just got my 24" illumina last night over my 36" tank. what a beautiful fixture. do you know or have the current software for the vertex? i have an Apple that is 7 years old running OS X 10.5.8. (i'm not sure why the current software is not working). it is the model before the release of the dual platform mac. should i borrow a PC and load the software on that computer to set up my lighting? what is the best initial lighting setup; like the sunrise, ramp, sunset & lunar settings? i live in southampton, ny. i look forward to your reply.

I dl the new software from Vertex site and adjusted my expert mode program, now the LCD is constantly luminated orange...before it would turn off after a short time. Anyone had experience how to get it to fade away again.

I did have this happen where the LED screen would constantly stay illuminated. Try updating the firmware for all components and reload your program.
Cheers

Actually if you reset the power of the fixture, it will fix it.

You're 10.5.8 machine should work I would expect. Its a Java app so you just need to make sure you have the most up to date version of Java.

Here is my response from Raymond at Vertex when inquiring about other aux. pads other than the red. I told him most of the talk on forums I frequent are all about the Radions since it has a more "full spectrum" light setup.

"Thanks for the great comments. We are always working on improvements but I have no eta for the new modules yet from our engineers. We have been looking i to other colors and their effects. I don't beleive that the Radion will be a issue for competition as they are using different methods for there fixture. The green led in their fixture has little effect for photo synthesis and is mostly a color enhancer for the human eye. However in saying that we have not ruled out any options UV is interesting for us."

thanks for the update.

Its funny though, on Vertex website look under Illumina it states aux pads are available in Red, Green and UV. What kind of BS false advertising is that then?

Any one know of any good strip LED fixture that has Royal Blue, Red and UV in one strip? I want to get two to supplement my Illumina.

The only fixture I KNOW of out there now with UV capability is a Maxpect Mazarra... and that would be a complete replacement (not supplemental).

You set the whites quite high. I once did that and got algae bloom. So be careful.

I like the crisp look this combo gives, had it running like this for months and no bloom to speak of.
