Don't you know that a private beta Vertex forum is a huge coverup to mask their lying about transparency and to hide the issues that make the controller totally worthless?? It was totally created by Vertex to reduce the sale ability of the finalized product and thus hinder their niche in the marketplace !!

Guys, this thread has been going well for quite a while, and maybe some of us have been taking things way too seriously.

What is lacking here however is feedback with real facts. Even the ones defending the brand have no clue what they are defending, really! They go by the same info all of us have this far which isnt much.

There could be some people with negative feedback about the Cerebra, but they might still buy the product. This forum has tons of owners that also criticize what they have at times...whats the big deal? If you own something and like it, who cares what others say? Educated discussions lead to decisions to buy or not something many times.

The "us" vs. "them" attitude doesnt mean anything if what you get at the end doesnt explain the money spent. Disregard comments that dont benefit your decision, thats all

I'm not going to speculate about any conspiracies, but I will point out that Vertex made a specific point at emphasizing that it was an 'open public beta, and they were being 'open, transparent and honest,' even comparing themselves to Isaac Newton. Making the forum closed goes directly against that statement and serves to build suspicion and mistrust.

If they want to sell discounted units to users to serve as a beta testers in a closed beta test program, fine, but be honest about what you're doing.

As someone considering buying a controller I am interested I. Seeing what the Cerebra becomes, but things like this don't help me make my decision or make me confident in Vertex as a company.

OMG people, get over it!

Seriously - Vertex decided to do it this way.

End of story!

If you don't like it - move on.

Wow...

Why should it be end of story? This is a discussion forum.

I agree it would be nice to get more hands on views.

Also, you didn't buy one of these? You sure act like you sunk thousands into one.

Most posting are not strictly Apex users either. I'm not and have stated my opinions already on the latest one out. So, no us vs them here or for many posting.

Cerebra owners are free to post experiences here, the Vertex forum is for support and discussion between owners free of static from non owners. I don't see why you guys aren't after the owners for not posting here? Look how sideways and repetitive this post is, then think how frustrating that would be if you wanted legit tech support, and your issue is pushed 6 pages back by people saying "its too big etc etc".

there aren't that many owners to begin with, plus, a lot of us are on the fence as to whether to buy this or the new apex

and on top of that, how are we supposed to know who the owners are unless they tell us? and they clearly can't tell us in the private forum, lol.

so yeah. there's plenty of discussion to be had regarding this thing, not sure what all the upset is about. it's a beta afterall, although launching a physical product like this as a beta is somewhat unusual to me, but, hopefully they are using this to actually take advice on improvements.

There are some updates at other forums. Still little info though.
As we all expected, all new equipment comes with bugs...support is what matters most to me. If Vertex steps up now showing change in customer support, it will become a very promising controller.

Slief, somebody posted this while trying to update software. Any clue as to how to proceed?

Currently we're still waiting for them to turn on the cloud functionality so things are limited to basic rules on the device itself.

There is VNC remote access you just have to start the app on the Cerebra first and then connect in via any VNC client. There's also the option of plugging in a keyboard and mouse to the USB ports on the back of the unit.

No freezes, crashes, or other major issues as of yet.

The folks at Vertex have been extremely responsive thus far to any questions or feedback. Most of mine have been around the specifics of getting my Kessils and Maxflow Gyre working with the controller.

Not sure why that is vertical, but you should be able to rotate that.

So does the actual display of all of the information look like the pictures or not?

Yea, I just don't have all of those probes yet since I'm waiting on Aquarium Specialty. You can see the temp probe icon is similar on mine. You can change what's shown, size small or large, and where on the screen it's located.

Just cancelled my orders before they shipped out tomorrow. From what I have seen from others I did not feel confident enough in the product. As much as I hope this turns out to be a great product, I am not going to take a gamble based on the intro price. If it turns out to be great I will more then happy pay the msrp.

I don't like how Vertex Aquaristik which is the Vertex that we know that creates all of the great products that Vertex has made thus far is showing absolutely no involvement in this product at all. It seems like Vertex is only releasing the controller in the USA to start which is quite strange. Also the fact that Vertex Aquaristik's website has absolutely no info regarding the Cerebra but has info about all of their other products.

I also do not like the fact that BRS is not confident enough in this product to be accepting pre-orders. BRS was one of the biggest fans of the Cerebra when it was first introduced and have close ties with Vertex Aquaristik and always highly recommend their products. The fact that they did not do a Pre-Order on the Cerebra is another big red flag to me.

I also really hate the "closed to member only" forum that Vertex is doing. They showed us and told us time and time again they wanted to be transparent and that is the complete opposite of being transparent.

I'm just being skeptical, who knows, it could be great but I don't want to chance it at the moment.
OK, so it has nothing to do with the actual product itself - gotcha.

I have a lot of the same concerns as you. I too am glad the orders were delayed to rethink buying this controller. There's just not enough information out there to make me comfortable purchasing this at this point. I hope it turns out to be a good controller and competitive with the Apex, but I'd rather wait and see what real users have to say and let the hype die down.

It is concerning that Vertex Germany isn't marketing the product in Europe or elsewhere if it has been in development for so many years. It's also concerning that BRS never jumped on the preorder bandwagon. I have heard from BRS and Marine Depot that they want to test the product themselves first before selling it, which I think makes a lot of sense as they are trying to protect consumers.

Exactly, and the fact that BRS has had a unit for weeks now and have been able to play with it and do not feel comfortable selling it is a big red flag for me.
