Hello!

Hello! My name is Alex, I'm 25 years old. I have been following this website for a few months now. I just moved to West Haven, Connecticut about a month ago for a new job (which is going great so far). I grew up in northern-lower Michigan, graduated from college (Michigan Tech) two years ago, worked 4 jobs (1 full time but got laid off, 3 short term contracts) the last two years before I found this one.

Before this I was living in the metro Detroit area for the last year. Most of my family lives in Michigan. So far I am loving it here in Connecticut. West Haven is on Long Island Sound (hence my user name).

Once I get financially stable again in a month or two, I would like to setup a reef tank. It will be a slow process, buying a few items at a time. The only good LFS I have found near me is a Petco in Milford, CT. They had some good looking fish and inverts (clowns, yellow tangs, damsels, hermit crabs, cleaner shrimp, snails, anemones and live rock). I am thinking about getting a 29 gallon tank and maybe a 15-20 gallon sump. I may just start out with the 29 gallon and add the sump later. When I am ready I will have more questions about the setup/cycle process probably.

Can anyone recommend any good fish stores in the West Haven/New Haven/Milford area? Any fish/reef clubs around here? Thanks!

PS: I will also be getting a dog in the next 1-2 months. It is so great having an apartment that will let me have a dog. The dog will come before the fish tank.

Hello good people

I am not NEW to the hobby but i am NEW to the NEW stuff in other words i have recently got back into this though did it 20 years ago. Life is MUCH easier now isn't it!

I am in South Africa.

OH i posted a message yesterday in http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...783536&page=71 but it has STILL not been "approved" - so if there are any active mods etc please could you be so kind as to oblige me.

curent projects are an Arduino project (started) and LED project (NOT started yet). I have a 20ga Nano tank which has been running for about 2+ months now.

As far as the Arduino is concerned i have NO clue at all what i am doing! So obviously nothing works hahaha

Hi

Hey guys just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I just bought a small tank last week (the Nano 16g). I am using this mainly as a test tank for myself to make sure I can keep everything alive lol. I just have 10lbs of live rock in it right now but planning a few pieces of coral and some small fish. If I keep everything alive I am planning on getting a 75g tank in the next 6 months or so and keeping this tank as my quarantine tank. Anyways attached a few pics of my starter tank and thanks in advance for all answering all my noob questions in the future :P

HI! Brand new, set up my first SW tank a few months ago (4-5), and having a ton of fun! So far it seems far less difficult than I feared it would be, but I'm having some issues with a Sebae I picked up Sunday. I created this thread asking for help.

So far, learning tons of good stuff from you guys! Thanks tons!

Hi. I am new to saltwater aquariums and reef tanks but already have a 30g, 75g and 90g. Unfortunately I had to move for work but have good friends taking care of my tanks. I am busy reading up on as much as I can and watching youtube videos on the subway to work.

New to Reef Central

Hello, My name is Colton and I am a 19 year old new to the hobby and have a lot to learn. I am still in the setup process of my tank and I hope to have it cycling by the end of next month. I have a 75 Gallon display and 50 Gal refugium that I will be doing myself. I have been looking into bare bottom designs not for any other purpose than I think they look awesome. We will just have to see where it goes from there.

Hello all, I am Vinny, I am very new to this site and to this exciting Hobby. I am just in the process of trying to do research on a host of things concerning a Reef Tank that is very exciting and can be frustrating and I have not even got started. Not good for me. HEHE

Anyway, I will not ramble, But just starting to think about the Fish that I might want to purchase and the size of the tank. I am looking at 150 gallon only because I heard that the larger the tank the easier the maintanence , to some degree. HEHEHE. Sorry I can ramble all day and not say much. HEHEHE Vinny

Hello, My name is Julie and I'm a fish-aholic.
Seriously, I've kept freshwater aquariums for many years and have always wanted to try a reef tank. I've enjoyed learning from all the forums and posts so far. I am patiently waiting for my tank to cycle.

Smile New to reefs, and Reef Central

My name's John, and I am a long-time Swim-tank Salt Water fanatic, but have recently decided to make the plunge into keeping reefs. I currently have a 55-gallon SW tank very lightly loaded, and just started cycling a 29-gallon tank (using Sk8tr's advice, of course!)

I've already learned a ton, and I thought I was pretty solid on the Salt Water basics. Hope to interact with you all soon!

Hi Everyone!
I have been interested in getting a saltwater tank for years. I first got the bug in college, but I did my research and told myself to wait- it was too expensive for someone on a college student budget. I'm willing to give it a try now. I have a 115 gal tank (approximated from inner measurements) and two Rena xp3 canister filters. I'm hoping to learn as much as i can from all of you.
Thanks for having me!

-Ben

Hello, Just signed up. I just got into the salt water hobby about 2 months ago and with some time spent researching I have my 30 gallon tank up and running now for just over a week. Once the live rock is cured I will begin the adventure. Thanks!

I'm a old newbie! I had some tanks 25+ years ago, then got out of the hobby about 15 years ago when I started adopting 5 kiddos. (They kind of took up a lot of time and money). Now, they're growing up, and I want to get going again. I started a website to chronicle my tank setup, and hopefully to give other starters some encouragement. It's called My Indoor Ocean

I'm thinking about eventually building 2 or 3 tanks, and I'm trying to decide where to start. Kind of interested in a Nano-tank (no such thing when I was involved before) because I've got a couple of good locations for it.

Time to start researching!
