A friend might be bringing a camera here today and my light is still out so I'm not promising anything.
I will make a water change today, order some supplies and bulb, hope to take some pictures, touch up with paint on the back side of the DT and maybe even drill the hole that goes through the stand for the standpipe.

Yes he/she is smiling in the second pic. My photography is still less than desirable. And so is my tidiness.
Ammonia is fine.

Still waiting for my 70W MH bulb so trying these for temporary. The yellow light is a submersible one and the other is a moon/actinic light that clamps on and has a flexible arm. I choose the actinic for now.

Yeah, I don't need that much light. Subdued lighting is preferable for quarantining. I do need to siphon the crud off the bottom with a baster.
The smaller fish is definitely eating and I haven't seen the bigger (the male I assume) one eat yet. I did a water change of about 15% on the fourth day. I think I'll do a bigger one more often. I also need to clean the "spout" on the Nano Remora. They have an opening that has to be brushed out occasionally. I sure wish I could see the male eat. I installed the standpipe in the display by seating the bulkhead fitting, then I tested all the glued joints by filling the overflow with water. Not a single drop found its way out. Then I did a similar process to the closed loop inlet. I installed the b.f. and glued a ballvalve x union to it with pvc cement. Finally I tacked in the anemone saver over the cl inlet with rubber cement and called it an evening.

This evening I'll do a w/c and finish installing the nem saver, do some calibrations, and dig in the closet for some more aquarium stuff that I put away for the summer.

I siphoned out some detritus and did a w/c of about 20%. And also calibrated the temp on my Reef Keeper against my thermometer with digital display. Now to set my Temp Alert which beeps when the temp goes too far above and below the temp set for heater shut-off. It's battery operated so if the electricity goes out, the heater will stop, and the temp will drop causing the alert to beep and it will wake me up at night. It's just a standard precaution. Now the male is coming out of the pvc elbow and going behind the powerhead pre-filter where the female has always been hanging out. He chases her out but she keeps coming back. They both venture beyond their respective shelters more often now. Tomorrow my parents are going to Kalispell to get things for out store. I'm having them buy a couple of things from Petco: ammonia dip and read strips and something else I can't remember right now. I've been relying on the ammo alert thing shown on the previous page. The dip and read is more accurate.

The fish are doing better. The male eats a little every now and then. I think the problem is that on the reef they eat all their waking hours unless they're spawning. The food is being digested all the time too, just as they eat. That way they never have a full stomach, it constantly goes in, through, and out of them. So when they're captive and only get one, or maybe if they're lucky get two, they're stomachs are too small to hold enough food to nourish them through the whole day. They have to get hungry enough to over eat and stretch their stomachs out. This just takes time.

Here's Mindy with a fork horn. She bagged this buck 20 minutes after deer hunting season started. About a half mile from my house.

I started setting up the display tank a few days ago. I have a siphon overflow and my old sump running. I'm injecting ozone in case there's oil from the factory all over the tank. It should burn it off. I think I'll go out to my storage and get the lights and a maxi-jet for a sure flow 1600 powerhead.
Fish are fine. Tried a new fish food and they seem to like it better.

Put some lights on. Two 55 watt retro kits. 50/50 bulbs. Oh, and a sure flow 1600. Man that thing is loud! I'll definitely have to shut it off at night.

I would like to do away with one pump. I have a pump for the only purpose of providing a closed loop from my sump, through the chiller, and back into the sump. I was hoping of getting rid of that pump and just using my return pump to go through the chiller and back to the display. I could throttle back the return and put its flow within the recommended range of the chiller, but have to think it out more.
The chiller pump is rated around 160 gph. It's an Eheim 1248. The chiller recommended flow is min/max 106/160. The return is an Iwaki 115 with top flow around 300 gph. What do you think Ruben?

Maybe you could T off the return pump to the chiller? Only problem is knowing how much water is really go through the chiller. Take a look at the eheim pumps. Ive never had luck with chillers
So the DT is acrylic but its not drilled?
