I just joined the Kessil club with two A360WE. I am waiting for Apex VDM to arrive so I can control them. I running 4 T5 also on a 120.

I seen a couple different programs. Seems they al ramp up both color and intensity. But I was wondering what other owners might recommend. Just ramp intensity up and down and leave color stable. Or ramp both? Stability and not messing with lots of changes is one reason I picked Kessil over other led.

i want to join the club however........

My tank is 5 ft long and 18inches wide. I want to get a AquaticLife 60 inch 4 bulb fixture. Can I supplement with two a160we Kessil. Would that wrk??? Or overkill for the tank.

Plan on keeping softies and some sps and bubble tip anemone.

I have the spectral controller on order and I have a question:

If I set Intensity to 20% @ 6pm then 40% @ 8pm
Does it gradually raise the Intensity over those 2 hours?
Or is it going to stay at 20% for 2 hours and then jump to 40% at 8pm?

Thanks-

It will gradually raise the intensity over those 2 hours. I have mine set to come on at 7:30 AM at 0/5% and it comes on at 7:22 at 0/1% and slowly increases until it hit the 0/5% I have it set for at 7:30 AM. just make sure if you do a sunrise/sunset program you end with 0/0 or it will run all night.

Ahh ok thanks Fishin. Thats pretty cool. The RR DM165 I had just jumped up to the intensity whenever the time hit. So it was 20% for 2hrs then 40% etc.
I like that its a smooth transition with the Kessil. I cant wait till my spectral controller comes Tuesday

You turn yours on at 5% intensity? I didnt think that was possible. This is what I got from the Kessil website, on the spectral controller page:

"The controller is currently compatible only with the A360 line. The A360 lights are not capable of dimming down past 13%, thus even with the controller, the light will shut off at that intensity. The controller will be compatible with future lights that may have moonlight mode, but with the A360, you will not be able to create a moonlight effect."

I cant speak for the 360 cause I have the A160WE. maybe that is true then. I did not know you had the A360. I have mine on a 10 gallon and I never raise my color over 50%

I ramp both Color and Intensity. Here's a quick pic of my current program. The Intensity is orange and the blue overlay is Color. It's a simple profile and the corals are healthy and growing.

I don't think so. Especially if there is a center brace.

I'm no pro by any means. However I researched until my eyes bled. The problem a lot of people run into is not buying enough fixtures to ensure you have proper coverage and to minimize shadowing. I have 7 total clusters over my 4' long tank.

If your goal is SPS go big and you can have the options of lowering intemsity. My sps was growing ok with the two razors but i don't do ok. I seriously considered the ATI PM and the Pacific Sun Pandora but the heat and power consumption issues are not worth it.

On a five foot tank I would personally go with five fixtures, offsetting each one front to back.

I'll order 3 and see what up. No intention with sps. Just softies and others. Would I get away with 3?

What are you gonna keep? If softies and LPS then yes but you're gonna need another one if you go SPS. Just my opinion.

Then again because of your depth you might come out better with the 360WEs.
