Yes it is! We find those inside sponges that wash up on the beach here in SW Florida after a storm. I collected 40 of them one day (20 for me and 20 for my wife because 20 per person per day is the legal limit). I put them all in my 180g tank. My wife asked if the LFS sold porcelain crabs? I told her I didn't think so, but I know Live Aquaria does. So she looked it up and saw they were almost $20 each! I just added $800 in crabs to the tank! And I rarely see them in the tank... mostly when I pull a colony of coral out there will be 1 or 2 hiding in it.

BTW, those pics made it so easy to figure out what it was, thanks.

I don't think the second crab is reef safe. I wouldn't chance it anyways, but the porcelain crabs is a filter feeders as stated and is a nice addition to any reef tank.

It's kind of hard to tell what kind of worm that is exactly, but the fact that it's burrowing through your sand bed is definitely a good thing.

Yeah, sorry for the bad pictures. It is very tiny, thickness of a small freckle? Lol. And about 3-4 inches long. I have only seen one.

Help me figure out what the black things and the yellow and orange thing on my Decorator crab are, please!!

Here is the crab

aclose up of black thing - It is alive. It has an open "mouth" in the center and pulsed like it was squeezing water through it'self. There are a couple of them on her and they came with the crab when I got her.

The other thing is toward the top right, is the yellow round thing with the orange center top.

I will try with my better camera later, if you want better than these. Any help would be great!

Those black things are Tunicates while the other one might just be a sponge of some sort.

Not necessarily, but they can get of hand if your not paying attention. I would just rip out what you can before your next water change and keep your eyes peeled for more. The trick to beating bubble algae is to stay ahead of them IME.

Saw this growing out of the sand in the corner. When the camera tapped the glass it retracted.

It's a feather duster. A small worm that builds a 'parchment' tube to live in and the opens it's mouth and puts out the display. Bacteria and tiny bits of organics get caught on it and then it pulls the display in and eats whatever it caught. A great filter feeder for the tank. Some like to live in the sand and some will attach to rock.

I've just seen 1 in my LFS, they are amazing little creatures, I'm seriously considering adding 1 to my tank. Only I'll have to purchase mine.

As long as you don't have any species of fish that will eat it, it is a nice animal to look at. If you have any of it's predators, I would skip it.

Which species should we be aware of with these tube worms?

I bought "the package" from Tampa Bat Saltwater. It's amazing all the stuff that I see in there. Tomorrow I get part 2. I can't wait to see what comes with that. Only problem could be the clicking I hear. Probably a pistol shrimp b ut I haven't seen it yet. May heave to go hunting.

Blob?

Any ideas what this blob is? It came in on a rock and now we're starting to see more of them. Should I squish it? Carefully remove it? Celebrate the luck that brought it to my tank?

Bubble algae. Just manually remove what you can right before your next water change and keep your eyes peeled for more. The key to beating this stuff is to stay ahead of it.
