Hey Flamron,
What kind of rock did you use for your aqua scape?

What did you use to join the rock? Rod? Epoxy?

What are you planning to put on top of the higher arch? Unless it is encrusting it will be grazing the surface very quickly... I would lower it 6 inches so when Coral is fully grown you have some head on top...

You really think it needs to come down 6"? I figured I'd try to have the rockwork get about 2/3 the height of the water. I'm 1-2" over that at the moment, but I figured having only 12" of height on the rockwork would leave too much open space at the top of the tank when the waterline is going to be about 23" above the bottom of the tank. I don't think bringing it down a couple inches would be too hard, but 6" and I'll have to scuttle the arch idea. |

Got the lights in, three kessil 360N
I am now very happy with the aquascaping. Was a bit hard to make changes after dropping them in the tank as the stand is fairly high and the tank 30 inch deep. Actually required a ladder! ![]()

I assume you drilled the holes using a masonry bit and a hammer drill? Or regular old drill? I love the end result.

Hi, my name is Stewart. We are new to this hobby of saltwater aquariums and have bought a 6x2x2 tank stand and sump. We are in the process of setting it all up and have bought all our equipment on advice from lots of different people.
We are at the point of the fun part of aquascaping our tank and have included pictures below of what we have come up with. Hoping to get some advice and your opinions if we are heading on the right direction and what else we could do from here. All comments good and bad are taken on board. Thanks, Stewart |

I'm not sure. I got it from a reefer when he was selling some extra from his tank. He'd never used this rock since he'd had enough. Total weight is about 36lbs. It's very holey and stacks nicely by itself.

I used a regular drill and masonry bit. The rock is not too dense so there is no need for a hammer drill, and I think you would be more likely to crack the rock if you used one. |

Looks good. I might shift the whole formation an inch to either side so that it is not in the center of view.

Looks good. I would reduce the footprint of the right rock structure a bit so that there is less in the sand.

Welp...this should be interesting, lol.
Trying to scape my new 165 Gal. DSA display tank... 72" x 20" x 27" - thoughts? It's roughly 240lbs. of Marco Rock. I'm contemplating ordering some of his rods and mortar and throwing up two really nice main pieces but I don't know yet... Again, thoughts? I'm open to anything... Many thanks in advance ![]() |

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback. We have now put 50kg of natural aragonite coral sand in the tank and moved the front rocks on the right side backwards so a magnet cleaner can fit through. Not sure if we should add some more height to the right side as weir sitting behind the rocks in the back corner. Thanks, Stewart http://www.flickr.com/photos/110999063@N07/11305600124/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/110999063@N07/11305588716/ |
