Nice nog! Here is a heavily modded jebo 520 on my 24 gallon, about three days of wet skimmate-
Here's a pic with the outlet riser off to show the amount of air in the skimmer body. |

sjm1978 I've used the stock, a maxi-jet 1200, and a Gen-X 1500 pumps on the PS75. I've did the mesh mods on the MJ1200, different venturi's, etc. IMO the Gen-X 1500 stock was working better than the MJ1200 modded. Maybe I did the needle wheel wrong.
Thats my $.02 |

Hey guys. I've been out of the hobby for a bit and am getting back in with a 29g and a rubbermaid sump 10-20g. Would the ps75 be the best choice out of this bunch? I was thinking either that or the via aqua 220 that was talked about early on. Is the via aqua overkill for this application? I won't mess with it much at first and it looks like the ps75 is working great stock. Any suggestions?

This Thread is Sooo incredibly long, i really have a hard time following it. Im up for the challenge of modding the ps75 and would like to order it soon. What do i need to do to this unit to make it work good? I saw about modding the pump with a piece of mesh to create more bubbles. Is that about it? Whats a good pump to do this mod to? A maxi jet 1200?
Please Help! I need to use mine as an HOB/HOT skimmer as i do not want to hook up a sump. Im going to use a 30g tank (36" long) Any and all details are greatly welcome, bc going through this thread would be like reading an encyclopedia lol Thanks in advance! |

I bought a Odyssea PS160 Protein Skimmer. Of course no instructions. This is my first skimmer and i was looking for something i could mod. I set it up in my sump. The problem i keep having is that the cup is over flowing. Im pretty sure i have it set up right, but maybe not. Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

if your cup is overflowing, you might have to adjust the ventury , or the water level knob. check those out, if its still overflowing you might want to do the mod of addit a bigger hose to the ventury so more air can get in there, i didnt have a bigger hose, what i did was drilled another hole in the intake of the pump and stuck another hose in there with a ventury to adjust

you shouldve attached the little knob at the end of the hose that lets air in, open it more so more get gets in you should have bubbles in the chamber of the skimmer if you dont then that means there is no air coming in, also the knob that is by where the water comes out thru, where that sponge in, make sure thats open. it has like a gate valve that allows water to flow out of the skimmer

You need to open up the knob more or the skimmer is in to deep of water.

I picked it up out of the water more. which helped a little. Its still over flowing. The know where the water comes out it closed but every once in a while its still over flowing. I dont have a knob to adjust the air intake. Either i did not recive the part or i have the skimmer set up wrong. Which part goes on the front of the pump?

I recently got a ps75 and was slightly impressed that the build was as good as it was for cheap import stuff. The pump impeller actually seemed to have big needle like bumps on it. I get pretty decent froth right out of the box. It sure seems to be a pain to tune in though. One hour its nice and dialed in, then an hour later that same exact setting has either no bubbles in the riser tube, or is filling the cup with water. The skimmer has only been running for 2 1/2 days so its def no t broken in. Is this issue common with the break in time/procedure of this unit? Or is there something wrong?
I do have a small tiny leak at the output tube of the skimmer. Its a very small drip that drips into the tank about once every minute or two. I will eventually seal it up, but wanted to make sure the skimmer was broken and and actually worked b4 spending any time doing so. Am i on the right path as far as breaking it in? |

Love this thread, I have been using ps75 for a couple of years with great success.....
Question, does anybody know where I can get replacement skimmer cup rubber seals?, mine have deteriorated from removal/install of cup for cleaning. Thanks |

How high does the ps75 stick up above the tank when used as a hang-on? i have a 26g bowfront with no canopy....just wondering how ugly it would be. seems like all the pics just show the cup and not the skimmer inside the display or above it. thanks!

ps160 on 29gallon
Hey I just ordered an odyssea(jebo) ps160 and I want to put it on a 29 gallon, with about 20 gallons actual water capacity. How do you think it will work out?

should do plenty good for that size tank out of the box I would venture to guess. Remember not to expect immediate results as these need some time to break in speaking from experience. Luke has done the most as far as tuning with the 160 and you can browse through the pages in the second half (this half) of the thread I believe.
