Just an FYI to everyone, I had some problems installing the latest firmware update. I sent Vertex a diagnose report of my problem and was told another person was having the same problem updating. It seemed my update would get "hung up" when updating the 4th module. Anyhow, after 5 hrs of trying to work it out I finally got it to work. However, I left to get some food when updating so I dont know what it did.

Anybody successfully install the latest firmware update, firmware 1895 I believe?

I was told this updated bug fixes for cloud simulation.

I am not convinced these red leds help color up coral. I would think they would be more beneficial for freshwater planted tanks since those plants like the red spectrum, IMO.

Thats good news, I will pick up some violet pads if they prove successful and vertex releases them.

Ha! That doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement.

Aside from the algae growth, did add anything positive?

So all 4 LED's are violet on one module? Or are they also testing 2 Red and 2 Violet LED's on one module?

Too early to tell, certain colors look better with the red accent, however I'd hold out for the UV which will be much much more than the Reds.

Padrino,

What do you mean by the VU will be much much more than the Reds? Thanks.

When I last spoke to the owner and one of their engineers, I was told they were working on them but that they would be much more than the reds as the cost of UV LEDs are much higher than the ones used in the illuminas.

Oh, I see. thanks.

Did they mention about red and violet on one module?

I guess the release date will be around May, right?

That's too bad!

If I place one red module in between the regular modules, then the next one UV module, then the distance between two reds or two uv's will be about 12". Is this too far? Doesn't make any sense to me of why they can't make a mixed red/UV module!

I can't wait for the UV pads as well. Seems like everything is released so slow, but can't beat the quality so I will wait. Is anyone using any other kind of lighting supplementation with there unit. If so, what are you using and post some pics?

According to one US Vendor they will be released in the next 8 weeks, not sure about the price but apparently they are finished.
Also I was told that they also have RB AUX module ready to ship now! I like the 10K look so not for me but I guess some people might want more blue!!!!
I can't wait for these or should I say can't wait to get back home from this lengthy business trip to play with my tank again. Well I guess the only thing came out of being away from home so often is that I got the wife hooked too. hah hah only if she knew of my evil master plan beforehand!!!
Thanks god she doesn't know of RC yet or be arguning everyday about something in the tank!!!!
Honestly after getting in this hobby I think I understand the Crack-Itch although never seen crack in person being a family man and all but I guess the feeling should be the same!
Cheers,
Dave

I just received word from Vertex late last night that the UV pads are being built, and getting ready to ship from Austria. They should hopefully be here in 4-6 weeks.

Awesome, is this a prototype? It does not look like a vertex pad! Vertex stuff are always pretty sexy but not this one!
Any news on the price?
Cheers,
Dave

Yes, this was the first pad they built by hand, a prototype. The production units will look like the red pads.

Thanks Jeremy, That is what I thought too!
I think the Aux module concept makes Illumina the smartest design.
The fact that I can add this to my Fixture without having to change the whole board or remove other LEDs or pucks to get different colors LEDs in there, makes all the difference for me.
So lets see how the other fanboys are goning to deal with this!
Cheers,
Dave
