My guess is that after Christmas and the Clark Grizzwald swarm of light enthusiasts dies, the price will drop back down

I just purchased 3 of these today for $11 each. I picked one up for myself and the other two are going to my dad and brother for Christmas. I guess the price is up to the idividual stores.

Maybe there is more than one kind? It looks exactly like the one I saw at Lowes.

I called my HD and talked to someone about the sudden raise in price. I was told that $35 was the normaql price on them and the $11 was clearance price on them and that when they run out of them they will no longer carry them.
Dosent make sense to me, if they clearance somthing, they usually keep the lower price till there gone. Ill keep checking back on these and see if they lower the price again. If they do ill snag a few more of them |

Marc,
Hey man, not to hijack, ok, to hijack, but your photo box and pictures from above the coral have always been inspiring to me (too bad I didn't win a box at MACNA!). Anyway, I was acclimating a new coral frag I received today and decided to try to take a top down picture, I think it turned out pretty good: ![]() If I hadn't seen your technique I might have never gotten this pretty picture. I placed the coral in the tank and with the glass distortion and side view it isn't half as pretty as this picture. Brian

New Euro-reef impellars
I received my new impellars for the Sedra 5000 pumps on my CS12-2 skimmer.
Here are some pictures. The upgrade didn't take long at all. I simply switched out the current ones for the new ones. I also got a special drill bit to bore out the hole for each venturi. These before and after pictures may help you see what a difference it made. Before, the bubbles are right even with the base of the collection cup. ![]() After, the bubbles are ready to spill over (and did about 90 seconds later). ![]() Before, the bubbles in the base. ![]() After, the bubbles appear to be more in the base. ![]() The impellars. Old on the left, new on the right. The newer one has taller needles. ![]() New on the left, old on the right. The pins are configured a little differently now. ![]() Last edited by melev; 11/01/2006 at 06:12 PM. |

The drill bit.
![]() Venturi drilled. ![]() Before... ![]() After... ![]() Bubbles! ![]() I had to dial the skimmer back to drop the water level in the skimmer's neck about 5" or so. An hour later, here it is. ![]() This was a very easy upgrade, and according to Jeff at Euro-Reef I just doubled the Liters per minute of air pumping into my skimmer. |

Great pictures on the NW upgrade. I'm considering the upgrade to my EuroReef as well depending how how you early adopters like it.
Looks like one of them nudibranchs on the old impeller. ![]()

is this mod available for all sedra 5000?
what is modified about the 5000's that they use compared to the 5000's that are used on ASM? |

seems a bit strange that would double the air input.

Oops, just fixed one of the images in that first post. The base has more bubbles in it afterwards after all.
Rich, I think that is an asterina. Snakebyte, this was for the Sedra 5000. I don't know the difference between the ER and the ASM pumps. I would have thought they were the same, but perhaps not. Jonathan, more air means more bubbles and contact time. For the first time, I saw microbubbles in the return section. I'll have to make a bubble tower for the skimmer's output perhaps. |

in your link here
http://commerce2.i2net.com/able5stor...ategory_ID=627 it says "For Euro-Reef SP3 Pump (Modified Sedra KSP5000)" Can anyone shed any light on what is "modified" about these pumps? or how they differ from ASM issued 5000's? |

Hey Melev,
I was hoping you could answer a question about a frogspawn. I got home from work today and took a look at the tank. The frogspawn looks swollen. I did just recently clean my powerheads, could that have anything to do with it? Thanks for the input! |

My frogspawn did that as well, looking like it was on steroids. It was a very pretty piece. Is this swollen in one particular spot, almost creating a bubble, or is the entire colony swollen? If it is a bubble, that is the area that will split a single head into two heads in the near future.

I paid the $35 for the cord today. Couldn't take waiting as it is perfect to hook up my three grounding probes.

I would post some pics but my lights are off. I need to adjust them for my daylight savings time, not the corals!
![]() Melev, I think you are right. It is just one of the heads that is swollen. This is thing is growing like crazy. I bought it a couple of months ago, and it has already grown 2 new heads and maybe a 3rd? Thanks! |
