Diatoms, perfectly normal in a cycling tank.

They look like "Texas Trash" palys. They spread quickly. Some are highly toxic as well. Google "palytoxin" or do a search on the site. It's sent people to the ER and gave them conditions they've never fully recovered from and killed other pets. Not something to mess around with. Do some searching and make sure these aren't the toxic kind.

A clown fish lost his tail yesterday. And was found dead today. Any chance this worm did it? Still a really new tank. Only 1 small peice of live rock in tank. The rest was dry rock. So between this worm and my black brittle star I cant figure out. What happened.

I don't think the worm or the brittle star had anything to do with the fishes death, but they may have nibbled on it after though. That's kind of what they do.

Make a trap now that you don't have fish. If there is something in the aquarium you should be able to catch it

Here you go. You can either buy this or build something similar using a plastic water bottle or something. You might want to check the Do It Yourself Forum here at RC too.

Hi, I have recently bought more live rock and I received a hitchhiker that I noticed after I put it in the tank. I have attempted to research it but have come up with many different options. Can someone help with the ID? Thank you!

Just witnessed this guy stand at attention and release what I assume are eggs. Any idea what kind of snail? No visible shell.

Does anyone know what these are, and if they should be removed???? Looks like I picked up a hitchhiker from the coral, although it was bayer dipped twice, as well as fresh water dipped, and removed from their plugs.

Timster,
The pics you posted are so blury you can't tell where the rock is just a heads up so your not waiting and waiting for a reply. You may also want to describe what item your question is about or put a circle or arrow around it as there is probally more than one thing in the pic. Sent from my E6810 using Tapatalk |

Is this better? It looks like red dots in the center encased in some kind of white. |

Does it move around at all? If so it might be some sort of Nudibranch. (usually bad)

Agreed on the possibility of a nudibranch. If the red spots look like antennas (in front) and the external gills in back in person. If it doesn't move it maybe some kind of sponge. If it's a nudibranch you should be able to pluck it off the rock pretty easy if you want. Nuidies eat specific kinds of coral or more normally sponges. I'd personally watch it and if it's eating a hitchhiker sponge keep it and let it eat the sponge (their kinda cool in my book). If it's eating coral.... Well obviously get rid of it unless it's coral you don't want. If you don't see it eating you may not have food for it as their very particular feeders, in this case it will die anyway. Nudies also usually kind of look like what they eat so they can blend in btw. Good luck!!
