Time for new bulbs on my 29g biocube. Looking for some options.Has any one bought new bulbs lately? Where can I get them?
I heard recently that JBJ has a replacement bulbs that fit the 29G biocube. Is that true? To me it looks like they only have the combo or 50/50 lights. Any thought would be appreciated.

What kind of corals could work under the stock lights Non HQI? At some point I know I'll want some. Thank you. |

I have a biocube 8 in my office I just set up. Down the road as I want to keep phosphates low (aside from water changes) what have people done for media in the tank. Since it's an office tank I don't want to a have any added external reactors so I was hoping to place something in the tank itself. I was thinking of a media bag with carbon/gfo but not sure of the ideal way to place it. Right now I've placed a bunch of rubble rock in the chamber in the back of the tank but that can be removed if need be.

1) I'd remove that rubble 2) Invest in a media rack, I use the inTank basket, follow the link to the BC8 rack. 3) Within the rack I run floss, purigen, and phosguard. The combo of those should give you the results you're looking for....hope that helps |

I've only had the tank for 2 weeks at this point. I don't want to do an upgrade yet.
Just seeing my options. |

I have an MP10 on my 29g bc. Works great. I control mine with an apex. I have it running at 50% reefcrest during the day and 40% (I think?) at night. I run through various profiles depending on the feed cycle I run via the apex.
It replaced two 425 gph koralias.

Anyone know if I can stick a large maxima clam at the top of my reef under the hqi? Right now I have him in the sand. If not what would you recommend for the top?

I get to join the club! I recently got a BC14 - it's been running since late November 2011. So far I've:
It's currently stocked with a sixline wrasse, three red-legged hermits, two cerith snails, and a nassarius snail. Eventually I'll be putting a bunch of softies in as well but I'm still battling a bunch of algae, probably cyanobacteria Water parameters are looking great: zeros across the board on ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate using API tests. All the rock, sand, and livestock was transfered from a FOWLR tank with zero nuisance algae so I don't know what the heck. The only changes I know about are (a) the water volume - old tank was 12g - and (b) the light - old tank had one tiny PC 50/50 bulb, I think it was 11 watts. For now I've reduced the photoperiod down to three hours a day as well as lowered the amount of food the wrasse gets. I've also instituted a "no pictures" policy until it's looking better Can't wait until it stabilizes and takes off! |

Picked up a 14G. It's currently cycling and it's only been a few days.
I replaced the 10K bulb with a 12K UV bulb from mediabasket. Also did the basket, Hydor Pico. I'll post pictures later.

Ok yeah I have been using reef crest but I also like the wave motion of short pulse mode.
