Is there anybody who knows how to install the FuturaBT software on a Mac or ipad?
I have downloaded the zip-file from the Giesemann website, but my IT knowledge does not go any further.

Hi everyone! I am about to jump into the club and was wondering if some of the experts here could help me out .

My tank will be 210x55x55 centimeters. I would like to go for the 8x80w bulb Matrix ii Dimmtec but the coverage from this light is only 180cm. And since I will have rock leaning against one side of the tank I am concerned that this would leave too much of a dead spot on the other side of the tank...

So I am also considering the 6 foot infinity, with 3x150w HQI and 4x80w T5. Now, I have never used MH before so my questions would be:

1- would the 150w MH be enough for SPS in this tank? It is only 22inch deep...

2- I am in Europe and the infinity comes as standard with magnetic ballasts, with external electronic ballasts as an option. Is this option worthwhile? What are the advantages of having external electronic ballasts?

3- heat: would a fixture such as this create heat problems and require a chiller? The tank will be rimless with no canopy and the fixture free hanging.

Many thanks!

I just purchased an Infiniti 72".
On my first day of operation. The front two T5 bulbs went out after approx. 9 hours of operation. Any ideas?

I plan on switching the bulbs with the other side & seeing if it's a bulb issue or ballast. What do you guys & girls think?

Could be a number of issues. Swap out and try two known working T5 tubes. If that doesn't work it might be a ballast or wiring issue.

Ballasts are pretty easy to replace. Wiring is pretty easy to check too.

I have the 4ft Infiniti over my tank. I also have a 6ft Spectra. I took the Spectra down to experiment with another setup. Im using a 4ft Infiniti coupled with two Radion Pros on either side. My tank is a Reef Savvy Rimless 250 gallon. I think the Infiniti provides more than enough coverage on a tank 20-22 inches in depth and 30 inches or less in width. The single ended Spectra, however would be better in a deeper tank depth of 30 inches or deeper with a tank width of greater than 30 inches.

I have the Luxcore performance series Electronic Ballasts, fast start up, low heat, and dead silent. They're anodized extruded aluminum and have a selectable wattage. I love these ballasts and have been awesome and definitely worth the money.

I have a rimless as well and my tank hasn't overheated with either fixture. My water stays around 78-80 degrees year around. I do however live in Idaho where the summers are hot and winters are cold. Never had an issue with heat transfer because my AC unit keeps my house @ 74 degrees in the summer. I also think the rimless tanks keep the heat transfer down a lot more and help significantly.

I like the fact of running the best of all worlds. T5's, metal halides, and LED's. I ended up buying Jellymon's Infiniti that he posted a few pages back with the Reef Savvy 120 gallon. I got lucky and bought his entire setup from him as he decided to go to another Project.

Thanks Jellymon for the tank setup. Its awesome.! I hope your Impala works out.

Thank you & sorry for not responding sooner. It ended up being a bad bulb. All is good now.

Many thanks! Just to be sure, you are using 150w or 250w bulbs on the infinity? And when you mention it would be more than enough for a 20-22inch deep tank, which bulb are you referring to?

Again, many thanks for such a detailed and informative answer!!!

It says that it has a maximum effective spread of 30" x 24"

I just sold my Matrixx since I got a bigger tank and those were my first choice but they are a little out of my price range right now. I ended up installing Kessils which I got cheap but I am not completely sold on the Kessils with only one cluster, it is going to require allot more fixtures in the long run to help with the self shading.. The Kessil do have the best cluster but that really is where it ends.

The Vervve really is not that expensive compared to others. Who knows I may end up with another Matrixx, problem is for a 6' aquarium it is special order. Also with the T-5 it is pushing the power available for the aquarium since I have a much larger tank now and that is why i am looking led.

I picked up a 24" Infiniti and it's a beauty. It's currently installed with a 150w ballast but I plan to upgrade it. I've looked in a few places and I've seen it listed that it can be upgraded to a 400w ballast, but others list 250w. This will be going over a 93g cube 30x30x24.

Also, this appears to be an older unit in fantastic shape. While swapping out the MH ballast, I was thinking about upgrading the t5's as well. I found an earlier post to separate the t5 channels to allow a more even control of the lights. With that said, I currently only have one wire coming from my unit. I figure it shouldn't be difficult to rewire it, but again, if I'm going to rewire, I figure why not install dimmable ballasts.

Any thoughts about either upgrade?

I bit the bullet and bought a Giesemann Spectra 24"! I missed having MH since I was never fully satisfied with LED. Looking for more coverage and I found myself constantly fiddling with the LED settings.

I can't wait to get the fixture!!! It will be hung over my Leemar Rimless 36x30x18.
