Jeremy, since I am a dinasour in this hobby, I still remeber the days of PH. Actinic 03.
I used to love that bulb. Do you remember what nm those were.
I hope it is the same since he difference of using the 03 or not was huge back then in MH set ups!
I figured you might remember!
Cheers,
Dave

I still run a tank with MH and VHO actinic. The UV Lighting T12 Super Actinic 03, which spikes at 420nm, is one of the best aquarium bulbs ever made in my opinion.

This pad will add some of that same fluorescence that the old Actinic 03 VHO's did, without really altering the look of the tank. From what I am told this pad really gets rid of that washed out blue LED look, time will tell.

Thanks for explaining Jeremy because I was about to ask what was the benefit of the UV pad. I am going to place an order as soon as they arrive!

Question

Hi Guys

I have just bought a Illumina s200 24" with the dongle and I am having a bit of a mare programming it in expert mode

Custom seems ok even though I cannot understand how to save a profile ?tried to hit save but nothing seems to happen?

IS there any way someone could link me to a expert program for use on a pc.

I can get the pc to talk to the light ok and have loaded up a basic custom program to get me going but the moon phase and real tricky settings have me stumped

Thanks Steve

Ok I am in Just picked up a 60inch 260 from J&L yesterday along with the V link was a little concerned the light wouldnt cut it with my tank as it is a deep demention 300 gallon 6 feet long and 3 feet front to back. My worries were put to rest quickly when I fired it up. Now I just have to figure out how to program it.

I have the same light on a 300G DD tank as well. It has NO PROBLEMS doing that size tank.

Prorgramming is quite eazy once you get the hang of it.

cav~firez22 How high above the water is your light hanging? I have mine just below the top of the canopy getting real good spread out of it, might drop it down a bit but i am worried about splashing as I have some BIG fish. What do you have for corals ? My coral collection is real slim right now had a crash and lost all my sps.

6ft light on 8ft tank

I have an 8ft tank & recently purchased a 6ft vertex and you definately can see where the edges of the tank are not as bright. If I had it to do over again I would DEFINATELY buy two 4ft fixtures instead.
Have to add lighting now....ugh...corals on ends (2ft on each side)are not happy & fading fast...
New to forum & newby in saltwater fish/coral world so can't really answer too many questions but I hope this helps!

Isn't the UV wavelength very bad for the eye? With how much all of us view our tanks, no ones worry about going blind....lolz.

The wavelength of this UV module is 410nm and I think it is more like violet than UV. UV with wavelenght under 380nm is harmfull.

My fixture is 6', that means it has 11 empty slots that I can install the Aux modules.

The following are what I think I will install, U is UV and R is red. What do you think?

U U R U U R U U R U U

why the red? have any users noted an improvement in coral coloration with the use of the red pads yet? ill be installing 2 UV on mine on one side to test it for a month and see what effect there is.

Im hopeful for the UV as ive been running some actinic T5 over mine with the illumina and my reds are great again!

My understanding is that red will bring out red pigments of some corals. Also very unfortunate that algae loves red spectrum. So my plan is to have only three red modules and I will set the intensity to very low in the beginning.
