Marc I have a question about the Chemi-Clean.
Did you leave your skimmer off for the 48hrs, before doing a water change and powering up the skimmer ? Thanks Andy |

Hi Marc,
Just wanted to let you know the gallon glass jars I'm trying for the phytoplankton seem to be working really well. Thanks for the idea! |

When you frag the Mean Greens, you actually pry them off, then glue them to the rock????? I have some zoos I want to frag but don't completely understand how you did it!

Yes, I cut them off under the mat, but cutting the rock with sharp cutters. What ends up is a little bit of gravel and some zoas. These are then glued to a new rock separate from the rest of the original colony.
When you are done, wash your hands well to avoid getting palythoa toxin poisoning (eyes, mouth, etc). |

Keys Critters ship our club's order today. About 9 of us got involved in this group buy, which helps defray shipping costs evenly.
I got 100 astreas and 25 white ceriths. With shipping, I paid $54. A few were put in the seahorse tank, a few in the quarantine tank, a few in the prop section, and the rest will crawl out tonight when the lights are out. ![]() These are large white Ceriths. They tend to clean the bottom 2" of glass near the substrate. ![]() I got a new Harlequin Starfish as well. It moves very fast, so I have no concerns the Harlequin Shrimp might try to eat it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And finally, the token SPS picture for the day. ![]() |

Tank pictures look great!
Is there any reason for adding the snails in a cup like that? I usually just drop them around the tank when acclimation is finished.

Keyscritters.com doesn't offer free shipping.
I put them in a glass in the tank so they have something solid to grab onto, rather than placing 100 snails against the glass invididually. |

Drilling old acrylic
Melev
Sorry to hijack your thread but I have a question about drilling acrylic. My tank is three years old and I am thinking about drilling the bottom of my sump to put in a bulkhead for an external pump. I am concerned that the acrylic has beacome brittle over time and that it could be very risky. My tank is a Tenecor bow front with the rear of the tank being the sump area.I would run spa flex from the bulkhead to the pump which would be in a closet next to the tank. Thanks Rich |

Well, I agree it does sound risky. Drilling it slowly would be best, and I would have it flat on some wood that will support it as you drill. That will prevent it busting through as you cut through the material.
You might contact Tenecor to see what they say. |

Thanks Marc
The plan was to drill from the bottom first, say half way then finish the hole from the other side so there is no busting through. Awesome star fish. Rich |

Hey Melev! When you use your Phosban reactor, how long does the Rowa work until the media needs to be changed? Also, have anymore of those awesome pics. BTW, any new projects you are currently working on for your tank? Thanks for all you helpful info.

Tbduval, you know when the media is used up when the output of water measures for phosphate. As long as the effluent tests 0, all phosphate is being removed from the water.
No new projects to talk about right now. I did some water changes in three tanks today. And I still have 30g of water left over. |

From the thread on Marine Depot, it appears to be:
Phyllodesmium briareum - Briareum stecheri, Solenopodium stelleri (both briareids) and Pachyclavularia And if it is, it will eat Green Star Polyps (Pachyclavularia). Ron doesn't think that I'll be that lucky, but it looks like it might work out. |
