350 gallon tank, 8ft long, 2ft tall, 3ft wide.

2- Foxface rabbitfish

1- Blue/hippo tang

1- Sixline wrasse

1- Royal gramma

5/7- Blue damsels

7- Purple anthias

5/7- Firefish (heard it was okay to put these together as long as you put in enough of them?)

2- O. Clowns

2- Bangaii cardinals

1- Lawnmower blenny

Also planning on keeping corals and inverts.
Anyone see any problems here???
Also if there are any problems suggested replacements would be appreciated.

Only from my experience ---I have not been able to keep a clown fish in my tank because of my three striped damsel---it is relentless at its agression towards them.

I want to get a 3rd fish (or pair of fish) for my 55g. I've got a Springer's Dottyback & a Lawnmower Blenny right now.

I'd like to find something that's colorful, peaceful, reef safe, active, & swims in the middle/upper level of the water column.

-6 lines are known to be jumpers, right?

You have a dottyback a wrass probably wont get along (they kinda have the same body shape) look into anthias they swim mid to top and can be kept alone or in groups of three or more.

A mated pair of dartfish would be good.

Hi Sk8r

Can you take a look at my proposed stocking list on the last page. And tell me what you think.

I have a 54G corner reef tank that I just set up about a month ago. 70lb live rock, 10G sump. I would like to plan out what fish I will have in there. I want a diamond goby for the good of the substrate. and I'd like some bright, active fish to watch too. I'm more into the corals, but lots of people like it for the fish. I was thinking one (or 2 if you guys say it's ok) clowns and I'd like a puffer (or boxfish) because I like their personality. If I can put another tiny fish or two like a fire fish or mandarin in there i'd like that too. I dont have my heart set on any of these (except the goby) Is my system going to be too small for a puffer?

IMO the tank is too small for a puffer
The mandarine needs live copopods to feed on--not suggested for a tank under 6 month old and a refugium is highly recommended.

Pajama cardinals are a nice fish
Blue green chromies, anthias, bartletts are all colourful additions.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully the LFS will carry one or the other.

edit:
Here's the Dottyback I have:
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...catid=1115&N=0
I looked up some Dartfish.

I found these two that I liked:
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...catid=1694&N=0
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...catid=2108&N=0

I didn't like any of the Anthias I had come across.

I do like the Leopard Wrasse, & I don't think it looks like my pseudochromis at all. Would there be a compatibility issue? Even a juvenile would be about the same size, if not larger, than my pseudochromis.

20g fowlr/macroalgae

no skimmer, no sump.
aquatech 30-60g filter
12lbs baserock
8lbs liverock
20lbs live sand

Tank will only be going until mid december, then ill be out of college and set up a larger one.

fish list

Zebra lion
2 cheap colorful small fish like a yellow tail damsel

Wanted to get a radiata but was told it would outgrow the tank even in this short of a time and i know a volitan wouldnt make it even 2-3 months.

I've got a 45 tall (36"). I was wondering what else I could add?

Currently there is a coral beauty, cleaner shrimp, 1 hermit, and about 30 nas snails. I've got a new 5" inch sandbed but the rest of the tank is about a year old.

Just wondering if a flame angel and maroon pair would overload. I know the maroons will outgrow the tank but I am going to upgrade to at least an 80 gallon this summer. (more than likely 100 gal)

I'd wait on the Flame Angel until you upgrade. Though the Flame Angels are smaller they still need a lot of horizontal swimming room. That's one fish I'd love to get but there's not enough room in my 55 & they're not reef safe.

It'll be hard to add any other fish to the tank after you get the Maroons because they're so aggressive.

what are your ammonia and nitrate readings.
A matted pair of clowns would be great but I would hold off on the host anemone for at least 6 months.

BTW
You should have about 30 lbs of live rock in that size of cube--and it might be a good idea to up it slowly before you add any fish

Hi, I am looking into getting a tang of the species Ctenochaetus. Most likely a Chevron tang. He will go into 120g mixed reef, mainly soft corals and some LPS.
Fish list:
1 Foxface rabbitfish (will they get along?)
1 six line wrasse
2 scooter blennies
2 tomato clowns
1 snowflake eel
1 damsel (don't know the species but is about 3-4" and fairly aggressive, he tries to pick on the rabbitfish but because he is venomous he seems to do fine. Would this guy be a problem for the tang? If I can catch him I will.)
2 coral banded shrimp

I don't think it should be a problem. Aggression should be balanced. If your sixline has survived the coral bandeds, you are golden. (Coral Bandeds can be nippy.) Frankly, I've found damsel aggression more bluster and chase except with other damsels, and I've had some of the worst, in a 100g. A lot of chase, but the only damsels that ever did anything in were chromises attacking their own kind. Tangs have that barb for a reason, and a couple of encounters will persuade Miss Damsel to go away.

Alright sounds good. My CBS are actually fine with al' the fish. They will lazily try to grab a fish that swims to close but I doubt they could ever catch one. I am just amazed at how often the damsel tries to go at the foxface even with his spines.

Now I am looking at the Kole tang. I can't decide which I want. Any suggestions?

We're finally moving forward with our livestock purchases. Here is what we have planned for the first wave:

Green Mandarin Dragonet
Stonogobiops Dracula Goby with Alpheus Randalli Shrimp Pair (or some other Goby and Shrimp Pair)
Yellowhead Jawfish

We are also thinking of ordering the following but are worried that they may be to aggressive to be added with the above fish before they have a chance to claim their territories:

Bicolor or Fridmani (Purple) Pseudochromis
Royal Gramma Basslet

Please let me know what you think. And before you say it, the tank has been running for 9 months, has plenty of live rock, and a dedicated refugium.

Thanks,
Chris

Hello, I'd like some advice as I start stocking my tank.
It's nearing the end of my cycle, and I'm due to pick up some of the clean-up crew this weekend.

My tank is a 20 gallon tall, T5 lighting, lots of flow, 4-5" sandbed. I plan to do mixed corals including 1-2 lps/sps.

Here's a pic of my tank as it is right now:
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f9...e/IMG00557.jpg

For Clean-up was thinking:
1-2 turbo snails
10 nassarius snails
5 hermits (some red some blue)
1 CB shrimp

For fish I would like to get:
2 perculas
1 royal gramma
1 six line wrasse
1 longnose hawkfish
1 firefish

questions:

- Is that too many fish? those are just all my faves listed and will certainly cut back if necessary
- Any forseeable problems with my clean-up crew?
- Can I get a green lettuce slug? I just like how they look.
- What in the CUC do I add first? I've been told snails first but also have been told hermits. All I know is I've got diatoms all over my sand and rock as well as two very small patches of green furry looking algae on one of the rocks.

I'm thinking the longnose hawk may just push it too far re space. I had one in a 100 and had trouble. They perch, but when they move, they move, and that's just not enough water depth for him, I'm thinking. You'll also have to cover that tank with eggcrate or mesh to prevent the firefish carpet surfing: they're real bad about that. Be sure and stick to percs, or skunk clowns, much calmer than the others, imho, and smaller.

Your diatom and algae situation are just a phase. Most tanks do that. it's spare nutrients in your live rock. i'd get 10 mixed snails, 10 scarlet hermits, with spare shells. A lettuce slug is going to be hard for you to feed longterm. I'd wait for a bigger tank.

And DO NOT FORGET TO QUARANTINE even on your first fish: it's your tank you're protecting!

47g reef, Rena xP2 filtration, Current USA Outer Orbit 150w MH and 2x65w actinic/day PC (total wattage: 280w or 6w per gallon) 2 Koralia power heads, 4" live sand bed, 50lbs live rock and Rena 150w heater.

The tank is going to be a reef tank (soft and hard corals with a few anemones)

Planned inhabitants:

- 3 green chromis
- 2 clown fish
- orange diamond goby

I'd like to have a flame hawkfish but I don't think I'll have the space...

Thank you SO much for your help.

I would prefer not to have to cover my tank, so if I do not get the firefish can I stay topless? (I can't help but chuckle a little)

there was no comment on the CB shrimp, I assume this will be alright?

Lastly, can/should I get a goby in the firefish's place? Do they all help sift through sand or only some of them?

Thanks again,
Lei

I have a 10gal. tank. / AquaClear 30 / No Skimmer / 1-Maxijet 600 / 1-Korilla Nano / 3 lbs. LR
I use RO water / 1/2" live arag. sand / No sump
Alk=11 / Cal.=400 / Mag.=1350
PH=7.8 to 8.04(CO2 at night) / Phos.=0
Nitrate is kept at 0 / 1-Clown / 1-Yellow tail Damsel / 3-Zebra Hermits
I am looking to add one peppermint shrimp to see if it will eat Digitate Hydroids, and possibly one other type of nice looking shrimp. What do you think? Any suggestions on the second shrimp? Also, will the pepermint shrimp eat baby feather dusters? Tank pic below. Thank You.
