I have 2 duels and am running 1st chamber in both with 3/4 full gfo, and the 2nd chamber is 3/4 of the pellets (500 grams each chamber)

I would just go ahead and use the whole bag of 500 ml, you can't overdose them

Hi guys,
I have been using the pellets for about 7 weeks now with good results. Just a question though ,does anybody use Zeozyme with this product or know if its alright to use ? |

So has anyone noticed their Phosphate dropping when Nitrate was already at 0 prior to the addition of the media? Seems like most info is set up, but not results.

im still looking for "best way to set up" i have it running in the 2nd chamber of both my deluxe BRS reactors with gfo in front of it.. doesn't really seem to stir it much, there is a good stream of water passing through it.. any one find the "Best" way to run it... what does it really need for circulation? I could dump some in my HUGE over flow (30"x30"x12") but there is not much circulation in there..

I have my valve wide open on just my single deluxe brs reactor, and that stuff is really moving pretty good in there
Just an update after 48 hours i'm still starting to see some slight signs of dying algae but my water is very cloudy, my ph was resting nicely at 8.0 this morning before my lights turned on, so if the cloudiness continues then I will be moving the output near my skimmer |

I have noticed that my bubble algae has taken a real kickin'. Anyone else noticed this? The SPS and Gorgonians in the tanks have amazing polyp extension. The gorgs used to only open part of the time and never have really grown over the 18 months since I got them. A couple of days after adding the pellets the gorgs opened up and haven't closed since. There are lots of new branches starting on them. For those reasons alone I believe it was money well spent. I haven't noticed a change in the bryopsis plague in another tank. Hopefully it will help with that war. |

After 72 hours my ph was starting to get on the low side, tested this morning before my lights came on after switching the effluent from the reactor near my skimmer, and im resting around 8.1 so i'm happy with that, although my anemone seems really shrunken up, ill see more whenever my lights come on.

I wonder if you could build a modified bubble tower, place the pellets in the tower and use the returns from the DTto tumble the pellets?

I have a 90 gallon with a 4" Deep sand bed... My plan is to remove the sand bed and use the NP bio pellets.
How much of the bio pellets should i use for this tank?( I purchased 1000ml) Should i let the bio pellets get established with the bacteria before i remove the sand bed? How long would that take? Thanks |

Add pellets
I currently have a 54G mostly SPS reef. My nitrates and phosphates are testing non existent on salifert test kits, and I have no nuisance algae in display tank. I would like to start stepping up feeding on my corals, and the fish could probably use a little extra too. So, due to space restrictions I could only replace the GFO in my reactor with the pellets. I'm still a little unclear though on whether or not it would be beneficial to run the pellets without the GFO. I read the entire thread, and understand (mostly) what is happening, but did not see a clear answer on if the phosphate was being skimmed out with the nitrates. I have a good skimmer and if this is the case I will try it.
So is anybody running the pellets without GFO and seeing a drop in phos, as well as nitrates? Or is the GFO still the only thing reducing the phosphate to managable levels? TIA Rob C. |

Then the cyano stayed on the sand and by vacuuming it away and dosing additional biodigest (bacteria) bi weekly , they disappeared again after a couple of weeks. Then i had like 2 month`s of completly cyano and algea free tank , but after i replaced an bleu plus t5 with an fiji purple i`m back experiencing some cyano and a little spec of GHA. All the nutrient levels stayed zero al the time , so i think it`s the shifted spectrum towards red that triggered the cyano back into my system -though i don`t gonna replaced the fiji purple (colors are soo magnificant ) -Growth and coloration as PE couldn`t be better , acro has doubbled in size over the past 3 month`s (before acro almost no growth). removing the sand bed can be tricky , why remove ? Quote:
you will skim phosphates , i measured my skimmate few times on phosphates and i always (i do wet skimming) produce about 2 l /week with around 2 - 3 ppm PO4 and 200 ppm NO3 in a system of 35 g. Display reads 0.1 -0.2 ppm NO3 and PO4 always zero. greetingzz tntneon

Thanks - I would start out with 400ml , you can always after a couple of weeks add some more . removing the sand bed can be tricky , why remove ? Thanks for the help. The sand bed is becoming more and more ugly. Also, Nasarius snails have buried themselves and die under the sand cuz there is not enough food for them. I dont want future problems with a failing sand bed. I have alot of money spent in corals that i dont want to die. Also, it takes up alot of room and water volume. How long should I wait for the BP to establish themselves before I pull out the sand bed? Im using a TLF phosban reactor with 500 ml of BP. The maxijet 400 which is rated at 110GPH doesnt seem to be agitating the BP enough. Any idea how much flow would be needed in this reactor? |
