Thanks again sushigirl! You're awesome! I'm pretty new to this and have lots of questions, it's nice to have this to come to if I get stumped by a new hitchhiker

Take a cruise through the rest of the thread, too. Lots of stuff already ID'd and a few hitchhiker links in here.

I've read through this thread all the way once and Ms. Sushi is pretty amazing so far.
I have 38 pounds of rock arriving tomorrow, so I suspect that I'll be cruising this thread quite a bit for the next few weeks. |

Got a few small pieces of live rock from my lfs. After I put them in the tank I switched on the red leds and I found this moving around on one of the new pieces. What is it?

Do you think this will survive through my tanks cycle? I just started the tank a couple days ago.

Don't know, I've never had any during a cycle. We did have to remove a rock frag rack the other day that we thought had 3 in it, so we dipped it in RO/DI. About 20 bailed out & were pretty shocked. They all recovered after a few minutes, though LOL.

Well I guess I will cross my fingers that it makes it. The kids were excited to actually see some life in the tank. Along with the starfish, we got a small hermit crab about a quarter inch long.

I'm confused somewhat now. I have something that has about 5 translucent white tentacles/arms coming out of the live rock. The tentacles/arms are about 3 inches long and move about the rock itself, the mushrooms on the rock, and the sand. It doesn't appear to have a harden tube above the area where they come out though. They don't seem to be hurting anything. I thought I had a spaghetti worm. Do you think I have a vermetid snail? Is that type of snail bad? I can't get a picture because of where it is at. This is in reference to the pictures on #613 that lmsmith submitted. Thanks!!!

Thanks, Sugar!
Biocube, that would be a peanut worm, nice find. You seem to have lots of nice goodies in your rock!

Thanks sushi! I only have "aquatic environments" to shop at in the QC and got lucky they are a great place. So far the only "bad guy" we have found is that aiptasia and even then we only had 5 of them.
Don't know what I'd do without this thread! Probably drive myself crazy worrying over the little things. |

My dad found this grub looking thing in his sump today. It's maybe a quarter of an inch long and 2 centimeters wide. It also has what appears to be a brush on the "mouth" side. Any ideas?

Can't really see any detail. I'd guess either a peanut worm or a cucumber.

We found another new worm in our rock tonight. It looks like a Dalmatian! White body with black spots on it. Is this little guy safe?
