GUCK, that's those new snails you were telling me about. I glad it's you that has to sleep on the same boat with them and not me.
I can smell them just from looking at the picture. Seriously. And if you are wondering; no, they don't smell good. LOL

They survive even worse than Mexican turbos. Less than a week under pressure but without sulfide.

2 new pages of posts in under 2 hours. I'm impressed.

Barry, that looked like more than "a" snail in that shot. Or was there a mirror involved? Strange lookin' -- that's for sure.

Jerel, I think I saw some substrate under those snails in their NATURAL environment.

I think there were actually three snails in that picture. But I had to maintain my expected level of laziness and not edit my post. A man must have his principles. LOL

The substrate down there is glass, just like an aquarium. (Obsidian) It is somewhat radioactive, so I don't recommend it for your standard aquarium.

Its sad that it takes one of those to make my gas milage look good.

You're going to need one of those and take over a small-oil rich country just fill it up on the way to work...

Hey, speaking of oil-rich countries, didn't we just get one of those? I'm still waiting for gas to come back down to $.99/gal. I thought that was the whole idea with the tank and the desert and such....

The only problem with that is, the abyss and tectonic plates make it work in spite of the sand

There's a old joke about "if you want a sand bed to work long term, you need a remote abyss refugia."

Gotcha. I already have a 10 gallon remote abyss refugium, although I'm thinking about expanding to 20.

I had my Inwall 180g setup to use Starboard as well and I am very happy. It had been 5 months and the tank loook very clean. Have some diatom on the side glass and back glass that I don't bother to remove it and give food to my snails. But I have one question though:

Since there is a gap between the starboard and the glass, the snail poops tend to settle down between those gap. Unfortunately, the gap is pretty small and I have problem inserting my siphon tube all the way to siphon it out. Any issues with it fouling the water? If it is not a big issue, I am not going to bother too much about it.

Really, beside the snail poops, I don't see any other detritus laying on my starboard.

Would you rather I use Mr. Blobby's friends as my avatar?

Or was it the voice behind Mr. Blobby (me) that you was disturbing you? BTW: All of you that are asking me what to search for to order your own Mr. Blobby, ask for a Psychrolutes Phrictus. It is hard to find these at LFS.

Manny, Moe and Jack. I'm not really certain if they are reef safe, though.

Considering where they come from, I think you'd need an industrial-strength chiller and pressurizer.

I notice fishbase.org lists them as "game fish"...

I'm not sure I'd want to eat Mr. Blobby.

Let's not nit pick here. These are very obedient fish and they live where they are told to live. Can't you see the subservience in their eyes?

As for eating them: Some fish are best served without their heads. These may be among them. Most people would not like Jimmy Durante lookalikes staring back at them from their dinner plate.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled thread . . .

Oh wait, I have a STARBOARD question that will get us back on track: Jerel, would you recommend Starboard for placing under them to decapitate them?
