That is crazy that someone would do that! Makes you wonder how many times similar things have happened.

No, but earlier today it appeared some people were trying to post to this thread and none of the messages showed up. I received four notifications, so I wanted to see if the RC Staff had fixed my thread yet. Sorry to confuse you.

No problem. I am not usually awake this late. Time for bed though. Hope you don't have anymore picture thieves!

The funny thing is the pictures he selected weren't even all that good, but it was VERY obvious they were from my site. When I sent Ebay the URL to the page where they were stolen from, dated back in 2004, I know they had no problem with my claim.

This is one of the images that were taken, cropped and resized.

And this one as well, with the tell-tale corner of my clam feeder tray.

It's a super-secret type of bump. I could tell you, but then I'd have to...well, you know.

how bizarre is it that you got notified about an auction using your own picture?

I'm amazed eBay even acted on it. How did you report it?

Of all the gorgeous pictures of clams on the Internet and even on your site. Why on earth would he use one with algae growing on it?

Well I'm glad ebay acted! Maybe the thief thought he was using a picture for a site that wasn't seen very much? HA! That will teach him to steal pictures from one of the most popular saltwater aquarium websites out there!

Because I saved the entire webpage to my harddrive, I can pull up that data again. Whenever something is taken without permission, I save documentation. His username on Ebay is johnscoralaquatics

Here are two images capturing the page from my desktop:

I called him up because his phone number was included in the ad. I just noticed that it says "quantity 3" - why didn't he show a picture of each one?

When I reported him to Ebay, you follow a series of queries that took me to "Report Fraudulent Ad" or something to that effect. I included a link to my baby maxima page that showed the clam in about 9 images, including the exact same ones in the ad. I don't believe they had a hard time figuring out who was speaking the truth.

Okay, in other news....

Last night I was looking at the red mass that is supposed to be my refugium. I really can't stand it how it gets tons of cyano in there. It was so thick, there was a red film on the water's surface, and the plants beneath were coated thickly. I don't know what the source of this cyano is, but I'm thinking it could be the smelt (the silversides I get at the asian food store). My next batch of food will be smelt-free.

So what to do... First I took some printer paper, and laid a sheet on the surface of the water, peeling away layers of cyano that adhere nicely. Then I scooped out all that I could from the top of the macro algae, dipping my hand in a bowl of water to rinse my fingers and not reintroduce it into the refugium.

I noticed that again there was quite a bit of detritus in the refugium and especially in the cheatomorpha, so I took some scrap acrylic, some foam material and two spring clamps, and created a trap at the refugium teeth to catch all this garbage while it was in suspension, instead of letting it drain through the teeth into the prop/return section of the sump.

I shook up the macro well, getting a ton of stuff out of there, and removed what was large enough to grasp. I added a powerhead to the refugium, and siphoned out the piles of detritus on the substrate. I even found a cucumber in there that wasn't too happy. Odds are the cyano wasn't part of its diet.

It looks a lot better in there now.

Last night while viewing the tank, I saw a Harlequin Shrimp stuck to the side of a Tunze. I hit the feed button and pulled it off, but I think it died. They are so beautiful. The tank is essentially asterina-free, so they did their job. I would have loved to keep them longer, as was planning to transfer them down to the prop section or the Clown Cube, but it is too late now. I'd only seen the one for the past two weeks. I've not seen the two of them together in over a month.

I like the info he provide about the clams. "They work under any saltwater lights" what a bunch of, u know!! It just makes me wonder what his clam really looks like that he cant even take his own picture!!!! Glad you caught him. Do you get a lot of people stealing your art work?

I actually just got an email from John a few minutes ago. I don't know if he saw this thread or not, but he stated that he took it down and apologized for using my images. I don't know what is fact from fiction obviously, so for now I sent him to the articles on my site that will help him take better pictures so he can use his own for future sales.

Just checked that link and he is no longer a registered user. Will probably pop up again with a different name soon.

Marc- you posted that the yellow chemi clean, as opposed to the white, didn't work. Where did you hear this? I've been to 3 stores and all the batches are yellow-I have a fuge cyano problem as well. Thanks, Matt
