I subscribe to so many threads it's hard to keep everybody strait at times. There I was blabbing a big speel to someone with more experience than I have and who has his stuff squared away thanks for putting up with my rambling!

naw man, I'm always learning. That's the problem with some people who has been in the hobby a long time. Think they know everything and can't change their thought process.

Couple of other questions. What size is your sump? Are you going to add a refugium and what are you doing about top-off water?
thanks,
Richard

The sump is an Oceanic, 58 gal, I don't a refuge really but I do have an area where their's live rock and cheato and a light. I'll post a picture if you like. My top off is by way of a float valve. The reservior is outside the house and the line is ran through the wall.

Okay update, it's been 6 weeks now. Tank is going through it's stages. As you can see in the pictures below the algae has been taken care of by my clean up crew and good water quality. Everything is looking great, no fish yet. I will be purchasing a few (2 1" regal tang) next week and QT them for a little while.

I added a new clam to my tank over the week. What do you think?

Well, I'll be adding my first fish in a week or two, so I did a parameter check to make sure everything is looking good. Here's the break down:

Calcium 500+
Alkalinity 7.2
Phophates 0
Nitrates 0
Magnesium 1350

Not bad huh? Calcium a little high, Alk a little, good water change with IO should get it closer to normal. I've been dosing two-part DIY amd seems to be doing a good job raising alk and calcium cause they were 240 and 6.4 respectively.

Looking so sweet! I really like your fish list, but think you need to add something yellow : )

hmmm! maybe a yellow coris wrasse, or a candy hog fish, those are sweet! Can't go with the traditional yellow tang, not enough room. But the Hawaiian flame wrasse has yellow in it and so does the African flame back. I do like the candy hog, I saw one yesterday, nice fish!

Well, I added my first SPS frag today. ORA green Milli. I got a great deal on it and couldn't pass it up. I wanted to see how it does before buy a few more. This picture is about 4 hours after acclimation. Polyps seems to be extending well. It's opened up even more since picture, so I'm off and running.

We'll see!!!

Nice, I have a few ORA frags, one direct from ORA the rest fraged from ORA root colonies, they seem to be very hardy and acclimate very fast. Some of my greatest PE too.

Good luck with the SPS!

okay reefer, just order my first two fish. Should be in Tuesday, I'm excited even though I'll QT them for three weeks. So my tank will be three months without fish. I'm hoping that boost my pod population.

This morning was feeding time for my coral and crabs. Don't have any fish yet so this is what I look forward to.

First is my Brain

Second is my Green Lobo

Next is my Red Lobo

And finally my trumphet

Here are a few shots I took yesterday, after reading melevreef on taking picture. Trying to get better at taking close-up pictures.

Full Tank Shot

I'm glad to say I think my patience is starting to reep benefits. While viewing my tank today I notice small, small what looks like mysis shrimp swimming along the glass.

Fish arrives tommorrow, they'll be in QT for three weeks. maybe the population will be able to multiple with the extra time.

Wow! great progress!!

If you Qt your fish a few more weeks there will definitely be lots more pods awaiting them when you do add them.

Very nice!

As promised pictures of tangs in QT. One is kinda skinny, but eating though. Hope he'll be fine. They're sweet!
Pictures not that good, forgive me.

they are both 1.5 inches and eating well, I won't them same cause I like to see a bunch of small fish grazing on a reef. I know they will grow but they'll be the largest fish in the tank rest will stay relatively small

I prefer buying all my fish as small as I can get them, and expect them to survive with the tankmates that are already there, watching them grow is most of the fun IMO.
