Travis- Have you ever been to Aquariums? I have found most of their livestock to be cheaper than on line. For instance, the mystery wrasse that I want so badly is $159.00 at Aquariums (don't have a tank for it...sob) but I priced it out on line at that place you mentioned and they want $240 + shipping.

Aquariums quarantines their fish for a week. I have never lost a fish from there. I want to see a fish I am buying. I want to know it has been cared for in a healthy way.

I truly believe in supporting our local shop owners. When I have a problem I want to be able to run up to a shop and talk to the owners with whom I have a good relationship. I will always buy my livestock locally unless they can't get it.

Usually you do your research and give good advice, but you need to check your info on this one.

Besides, this is the CRASE thread. Who do you think is working with us to make it happen? Leigh Anne. She is spending a lot of her own money on it. I have wanted to see something like this happen for a long time, together we are doing it! OKla. hobbyists have come a long way. I am thrilled about CRASE.

I hear good things about all our LFS's. I don't like to drive so I don't use the other shops, but I buy all my livestock locally. I know there are some good shops up your way too. I say take advantage of what we have right here in River City. The hobby is nothing without its LFS's.

I agree for the most part. The only reason I buy online is usually when the selection and price make it feasible. The 2 week warranty that most of them give is a plus. I prefer to buy locally whenever i can. There are a couple(who shall remain nameless) whose prices make me scratch my head. But overall for knowledge and quality they are tough to beat. Also like Travis said earlier its nice to see what you're buying. I'm proof of this. The past few weeks with online fish has left me frustrated. After I'm done with getting fish replaced i think I'm done with them for a while. I like getting new fish when the old ones die, but it would've been nice if they hadn't died in the first place.

Whoa! Sheryl, where did that come from? That was actually meant to be a compliment. I didn't mean any harm, even though after reading it this morning I can see it could easily be taken the wrong way. Aquariums stocks good stuff and at a great price, but I really can't see them getting a Gem Tang in and selling it for $100 I would hate to see a shop stocked with fish that range in price from $500-$5000 and not offer the customer something a little more substantial. Which, of course, Aquariums does offer great fish.
