Hey, that G3 is a great skimmer...great choice. Does it skim pretty well on your 75? It's really oversized for that size tank (which is a good thing...but skimmers can be too oversized if you know what I mean) ...but, I have a G3 on my 75 right now (breaking it in before it goes on my new 125) and it's skimming pretty good as well. I was afraid it would be too oversized...but it's working well. How bout you?

Hey Zach
Right now I only have two clowns and 100lbs of rock and it is filling the cup weekly, so it is skimming really good. I am a little worried about overskimming with the meshwheel mod which makes me a little nervous to try it, but at the end of the day I would rather overskim then under skim. My sump is large as well (about 40 gallons) which adds to the water volume as well. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

RED ALERT...CRAB!
Tonight during feeding, I dropped in a small peice of diy homemade fish food (thanks again Michika). It broke into two peices, one of which was stuck on a piece of rock. Which I saw two rather large "claws" stick out of an grab this chunk of food back into it's hole. The hole it's self is more like a cave, at least 1 inch wide. I can't see inside of it due to aquascaping.
So what are the thoughts, should I tear down the rocks to get him out? If I do, how do I get him out? I heard spraying club soda from a turkey baster works sometimes, can that be done in the tank? Thanks... Now I gotta go tell my wife I have bad crabs.....

Been along time since an update, so here we go.
Starting with params: ph - 8.3 Temp 79.5 - 81.5 SG - 1.026 dKH - 10 Calcium - 460 Phosphate - 0 Nitrate - 15 Clown fish are doing great, "Nemo" grew his missing fin back, which leads me to believe the LFS employee who got him was a little too rough. I have a total of 5 Turbo Snails. No algae on the rocks or sand bed other than Coraline. All the GHA that I had when I got the rocks are gone. Very happy about this, I beleive a combo of the snails, the G3 and a DIY Phosban Reactor running Seachem Phosgaurd is the reason. Speaking of the Phosban reactor, when checking the fuge I bumped it and the bottom PVC came off. Water every where...my first flood. The day after came my second flood. Ironic story really, I was making RO Water which I store in 20 Gallon Brutes next to my office where the tank is. I got distracted reading a Tank Build on the Large Tank forum and forgot about it. It was a 40+ page thread...about 10 gallons overflowed and destroyed the flooring in my suite. I ripped up the floor right away to try and contain it which mostly worked, however about 75 sq feet was destroyed. Luckily the Rona here had the same flooring on sale so I picked up three boxes and replaced it all. Looks as good as new and the landlord didn't know. Sadly, the floor came out of my "Reef Budget" (Never marry a thrifty woman...) I have a IV drip line that is siphoned to a 5 gallon IO bucket of Kalk Water. It's keeping the Calcium and dKH good so far. Current stocking list is 1 4" Yellow Tang 2 1.5" True Percs 1 Green/Purple Fungai Plate Coral 12 head Sun Coral (Proud of this guy, was nearly dead when I got him, now nice and healthy with polyp extension 5x the size when I got him) Slow growing GSP 5 head branching hammer. Picked him up at 3 heads and it's one large head has split into 3. 3" Mantis Shrimp in fuge, haven't seen since I added him. My LFS had a large Purple Acro that was severely RTNed in his tank. With low Calcium, they gave it to me on the promise of a frag if I could save it. Sadly it didn't happen, however it made my desire for SPS grow. The same LFS is getting a shipment from Bali in on Monday and I'm going to pick up a Green Slimer frag on Tuesday. Got some pics of the Evil Crab, but it is too big to get out of the cave it's in! I tried Kalk Water, fresh water dips and Carbonated Spring Water...nothing. Skimmer is awesome, I got lazy and decided to run it very thick for 2 weeks. 2 weeks turned into 3 and when check the temp I found thick brown crap coming out of the raiser tube. The neck was just about closed off. This was done feeding lightly before the Tang! Currently I have no mods but plan a Gate Valve next month and a Meshwheel whenever I get the guts to try it.

sucks about the floods, i lost about 5 or more gallons on my wood floors, and behind my tank...and had to try and get a mop behind it and bring out some space headers and a fan...not fun but we have all had our share of floods.

Yeah floods suck. However we all learn lessons. Now I have a floor sensor that I use to make sure the water level doesnt get too high in the Brutes. I also realized the "error of my ways" with the Phosban reactor and plan on getting proper ones.
Worst part about floods...not hearing the end of it. "If you flooded the house and I didn't get that mad, you can't get mad that I bought 10 new pairs of shoes!"

Sure thing Angela, I don't think I have many great shots, but here are some recent ones. Sadly I had to put the yellow tang down today, he got him self stuck in one of the caves and thrashed himself pretty good trying to get out and got a very bad infection...everywhere. RIP Ol' Yeller

I removed my Phosban recactor since it failed and caused a small flood, so my plumbing wasn't the greatest, my DIY silicone bulkhead is what did it in. Basically though, I just had a flex hose coming a T off the return pump going to it and then the exit plumbed to run into the fuge. Sometime this fall I'm going to mod the Mag 5 into a Mag 7, redo the return plumbing and plumb two Phosban Reactors into it, one with Phosban the other with Carbon.
Here are some shots of the fuge/skimmer.

Been awhile since any updates, so here we go...
ph - 8.3 Nitrate - 0 Phos - 0 dKH - 11 Calcium - 440 SG - 1.025 Temp - 77.5 - 80.5 Stocking so far is: Fish: 2 True Percs 1 Small Coral Beauty 1 Lawn Mower Blenny 1 Blue Spot Goby 1 Six Line Wrasse Corals: Green/Purple Plate - First coral added, color is great and it is growing fast! Sun Corals - Nearly dead when I got them, very healthy now and growing! GSP - Not growing as fast as I want, not very thick either Mushrooms - No idea on ID, but a nice green with teal lines. No pattern for the line. Picture is below Branching Hammer - I had this guy too close to the light so it has lost some color, I just recently moved it down. Bought as 3 heads, now is at 5. Zoas - Three different types on four colonies. One Metallic Green which I think is a Paly not Zoa. Frog Spawn/Torch - Not sure on ID. Recently picked up from a reefer who had him. Currently in very rough shape, however has 5 heads and very nice branching. Only one head has polyps with color, the others are badly bleached. Hoping to save him, got him this week. Monti Cap - Not sure on ID and no good pictures yet. Green/purple polyps. Very cool looking and about 5". Misc - Mantis Shrimp in fuge. "Godzilla". One of my favs BTA - 6" BTA. Was ghost white when I got him and is now starting to darken up. Clam - Also saved from a reefer, no idea on ID but seems happy. Sand Sifting Star Fish Recent upgrades: Changed impeller in Mag 5 to that of a Mag 7. Happy with results so far. Changed top off to a 20 gallon brute with Kalk. IV drip line on siphon controls the flow Sump socks that are changed every three days Carbon running in Fluval 304 Future upgrades: Adding 2 x 54 watt 48" T5's for display and 2 x 20something 10k 24" bulbs for fuge. DIY Sulfur Denitrator DIY Phosban Reactor And now some eye candy. I'm still AWFUL at taking pictures, but plan to spend a day or so this weekend playing with the camera and photoshop. Frogspawn/Torch? Sandsifter Mushrooms (ID?) Side shot cause I suck at FTS

Anyone have an ID on this Clam? Here is my Torch, compared to when I first got it. Now all the heads have polyps and 4 of them have nice color at the tips. Aiptasia is growing bad, will be getting a CBB soon.

Thanks Paulie, I need more coral and fish
Interesting you say that about the GSP. I've had it since July and it has barely grown! All my other corals have shown great growth but the GSP. I love the look a a rock covered in thick, long GSP but I'm still waiting for it

Here is the best one I could find. The design was really flawed due to the silicone on plastic bulkheads. I had hoped it would have worked, and it did, however just not that well. I plan on making another one in the near future, but using PVC.

Wow, been awhile for updates...
I added a Copper Band and Hippo Tang. I think I'm done for fish stocking now. A local guy here had his tank crack. He is setting up a new one, but it will be awhile and he was down sizing. It is very hard to find any SPS frags here and even a small colony is 70 bucks. That said, I picked up a Purple Acro, Cats paw and birds nest from him for really cheap and am heading back out today for more frags! FTS Cats Paw Moon Coral Hippo in Cave and Corals Acro - Some of the branches and the back one side of it looks very brown, not purple at all. The polyps are purple though and the rest of the branches look good. Decent extension and nice colored polyps, is this a sign of bleaching or RTN?

I picked up more frags last night and just finished placing them now. Some of them got angry at me so you can't see great extension, but here are new fresh shots:

Yeah, I'm stoked about them. Very bright, very green!
My bulbs need to be replaced, they are worse than I thought they were. Come spring, I'm going to be adding 4 x 54 watt T5's. I'm debating going with XM 10k for growth, getting the 14k Hammy's again or going with the Iwasaki 15k bulbs. Any opinions?
