I really like my closed loop. I do fear down the road that I will probably have to add to it but thats ok. I had a lot of dead space before I moved the excess locline. The two sides were two close making the middle very vigorous flow and the ends not so much.
When I removed 3 locline links from each piece it helped a ton, I also repositioned them and have virtually no dead spots. I was scared to drill that many more return holes in the tank.

Funny you would ask today! I added 13 new frags to my tank, some closer to mini colonies! Here are some teaser pictures til I get better ones. There is coral everywhere as I want to acclimate pieces from Keys Island and I was working where plugs would jamb as I am planning an epoxy party soon.

Here are the goodies I picked up today

Looks Great Steve,
Can't wait for them to grow up, your gonna need a bigger tank, But I know many folks who will be happy to find your frags a new home once they outgrow yours.
Won't be that long,
Chris

very nice build. IMO you found precisely the right amount of rock for the tank. You have just enough to accommodate space and rock for corals/filtration. I always tend to put too much in my setups and I think a lot of people run into that problem. Excellent, excellent build.

Yeah the frag tank, is no more. It popped one night and flooded my loft up stairs and down stairs in my foyer.

Here is a link with more pics of the setup as far as we got. It's all tore down now.

What's your current list of fish in the tank ? I'm curious cuz I find that my tank could only support 7 small fish at one time. Anytime I added an 8th, I would lose a fish...not right away, but 2-3 weeks later. It never failed. I would add another, and another would die. I find that 7 was my max for stocking capacity in my 58.

Thats interesting.
My current fish list is the magical number 7 haha

-4 green chromis
-2 percula clownfish
-small yellow tang

I have been looking for a showcase fish thats 58g friendly and reef safe and then be done. I wanted to give the chromis away in the upgrade, but my wife would have none of that. I should have went bigger!

What was your stock list in your 58?

Yes, I cant agree with you anymore! We spent a lot of time planning this not to mention the amount of money dropped on the setup. Huge dissappointment. The only positive to come out of it popping when it did was it had no coral in it!

Spleify and I went in to it together Im still bummed.

The new tank looks good, nice build. Just curious why you didnt like the old bowfront...friend of mine is looking at a 72g bowfront, wondering if I should warn him of something.

Nice build. Nice looking dog too!

I have the same setup and this is my fish list:
6 line, 1 chromis, pair Clarki, tail spot blenny, Eibli angel, royal gramma.

The angel has been 95% reef safe. He nibbles on my zoas but has left the clams and other corals alone.

We would love to find another blue reef chromis but one hasn't shown up yet.

Here are some personal reasons why I didnt like my bowfront:

-Viewing, most of the time gave me a headache.
-Scratched too easy at the bow with a magfloat
-didn't like the dimensions
-center brace

I would highly recommend visiting someone or somewhere that has a bowfront before buying it. I liked the unique aspect which is what I started with. It was our first tank. After switching to the typical rectangle tank I would never ever get a wierd shape again. For the sole purpose of viewing!

I've got a 90 now, but before I upgraded a few weeks ago, I had (actually, I still do)

2 percs
1 cherub/pygmy angel
1 green mandarin
1 firefish
1 royal gramma
1 yellowtail damsel

oh and I agree...I'm not a fan of bowfronts

I will get some pictures tonight.

-ORA German Blue Polyp Acropora (Impossible to find)
-ORA Oregon Tort
-Red with Blue tip Table Acropora
-Montipora Undata
