Thanks! We designed the tank ourselves based around ideas from other shallow tanks we've seen here on RC. We were tired of getting our arm pits wet on our 24" tall 40G...

We will be moving everything from our current 40G (Fish, Inverts, LPS &Sofites) and will be adding SPS to the new one.

Beautiful tank, I'd like to get something similar but 5 foot. I also wanted to comment on your choice to keep purple queen anthias. I have heard they are near impossible to keep and almost never eat, that said I've had one for about 6 weeks and I see it eat everyday. My problem with it is that it constantly hides, sometimes I don't even see it for a day or 2 and I always think it's gonna turn up dead but so far its still doing well. I recently got a trio of disbar anthias, I did lose one in the first couple of days, but the other 2 are extremely brave, constantly out in the open and they eat like pigs. IMO they are also much nicer looking than the purple queen. You may want to look into Disbars or another species like Barlett's which are also very nice. Just my .02, I know if I'd have known their reputation for being hard to keep I would have never bought mine.

Skip the maroons. Though they are beautiful to watch, they will create many problems in a reef tank. I had a breeding pair and decided to trade it in to the LFS for some corals. I hated when they would create little burrows by kick up the sand with their tailfins. Sand would get on everything. Also, forget about putting anything near their turf. It will end up on the other side of the tank. That's if you can place it near them in the first place. Mean little critters!

The maroons are going for sure. The female is a real bully.

Boourns!

I'm sad to report that we are sending the tank back to Miracles...

On closer inspection we have found some manufacturing imperfections that should have been caught by QA before the tank was shipped. We found four 1 inch round clamp marks in the black vinyl backing of the tank that are just too unsightly for a custom tank this expensive.

Miracles responded to my email within 30 minutes offering to rectify the situation. The owner apologized and offered to pickup the tank on Saturday and redo the backing properly and send it back the following weekend.

I'm happy with the great customer service and the desire to make it right. I am a little disappointed that this was overlooked and shipped in the first place.

Our plan to setup the tank and stand this weekend is sadly postponed.

Totally sticking with it. This is just an unwelcome setback...

I connected a WaterBug relay to the ReefKeeper switch module and placed the sensor on the fish room floor.

Now, heavens forbid, should a flood occur the sensor will trip the switch module and the RK NET module will email my iPhone.

Sweet!

Thanks! I hope to have our local aquarium plumbing expert come in early next week to get the tank plumbed up to the basement sump so we can finally get this party started!

Just the tank is $1500 Canadian. Don't ask me how much total for this entire project will be, I don't want to remind myself...

Where is the water!!!!!!

Looking great, the $1500 canadian are well spent. I made the exchange calculation and is about $1200 US...that is not bad for a high quality, custom Starfire tank.

But somehow my wife will not see it as "logical" as me

Looks great! You have to be happy with those dimensions. Deep tanks are just so much more impressive.
