Bjarne, congrats for the project!
I really like how you managed to build the rock work, the details you gave to it and the coral size/position, as coral frags are much more suited for this type of tanks. Everything fitted and in proportion with the scale of the tank. IMHO, that´s the only method you can get away with shallow reefs and you have done it successfully. Looking forward to see this tank mature. Subscribed! Regards, André |

I had your 112L Iwagumi reef as one of my inspirations when i was trying to aquascape. I think i did decently with the left island altough its hard to see in the pics, lots of small caves and overhangs on it while still maintaining ample room for corals.

This is my favorite picture so far! My cats go in waves of being interested in the tank or not.
Nice aquascape and nice tank!

Oh it will, believe me. Anybody who has Xavi, Iniesta, Messi feeding them balls won't have trouble scoring. It's just too bad that Sweden didn't qualify for the WC, I hope he's is still around for the 2014 WC(as in not retired too early).

I think 2014 might be stretching it, he has always said he wouldnt keep playing for too long, when he feels he cant perform at the level he himself desires is the time to retire is what he usually says. by 2014 he will be.. 32 years i think and even if his game is not so dependant on speed he has a big and heavy body that probably wears out faster than smaller players. 2012 Euros is my tip for his last international chance. Hehe thans Alex! I have Sunburst anthias, Rainfordi goby, nemawhatever decora. I did have a Japonicus surgeon but after observing it for a couple of weeks he got transferred to a friends bigger tank. Im waiting for 7 Longspine Cardinalfish. More than that i dont think i will add, maybe a mandarin later on.

You make a good point about him being a larger player.
The 2012 Euros is going to be good, same with the 2010 WC! I'm excited about that. I got to watch Barca play vs Seattle Sounders...as well against Chelsea. I can PM you some pics if you want. And I got to meet Kasey Keller(Sounders keeper) and Freddie Ljungberg(do you know who that is? haha, I kid.). I have pictures of that for proof too! lol. Anyways, without getting off topic(too late ). When do you receive the cardinals? I've been wanting a group of them myself. Be sure to post pic of them, . Quote:

I dont mind going off-topic at all. The cardinals are in a friends tank, he is tearing it down soon because he is moving abroad for a while and i got first dibs on them. I do think i will have them in my tank in about 2 weeks.

I've seen an increase of red flatworms the past week or so and i was thinking of getting a six-line to get rid of them but im not sure i want one of those in the tank in the longrun. I know Synchiropus occelatus eats red flatworms but not sure about wanting one of those either.. Any other suggestions? Do regular Mandarins eat red flatworms?
Note. This is red flatworms not AEFW.

I've read that mandarins have eaten flatworms for some people, I don't really think it's a guaranteed way to get rid of them though. And as for six lines, I'm sure you know about their very(IME and most other people too) aggressive nature. I'd be worried about them picking on peaceful fish like your future cardinals. Maybe you can try something in the Halichoeres family, like a melenarus wrasse.

I would love some other sort of wrasse... But.. The tank is real shallow and very open.. I fear it'll jump?

That's true about the open top. But burrowing species such as the melenarus wrasse and most(maybe all) of the Halichoeres are more likely to dive into the sand bed rather than jump out of the tank when they are frightened or scared. For what it's worth, I've had about a dozen different species of wrasses, mostly fairy and flasher wrasses and have only had a single fish jump. The only reason that fish jumped is because someone banged on the tank pretty hard when it was near the top eating food.
