You'll be happy with the higher main drain. Your build looks good.

some photo updates:
New C clamps with rubber grommets for the 6205's:
I had a small slow drain leak that I discovered when I saw salt creep around it, someone had recommended this thread paste which was an awesome fix: So much room for frags to grow: Still need to tidy up some cables, mount most of the hardware under the stand, move some other hardware from the temp garage bin as well as the fatty Hippo tang. I've been able to keep it around 78-81.5 with fans, while running 3 x 250 with various photo periods but summer's just begun. Don't really want to run a chiller. Still haven't lowered the lights yet but I might leave it like that til everything adapts. Just enjoying the clean white sand while it lasts... Tony Last edited by tran383; 06/22/2010 at 03:33 PM. |

Siphoning question?
Since I have hooked up my NextReef reactor using the center manifold, whenever I turn off the pump the water keeps draining past the drilled anti siphon holes on the return nozzles and this is true even after I raise the returns above water level when the return pump is off. Both of the tubing for the exit of the reactor is above water. I literally sit there and watch the water drain out of both reactor tubes even as both returns are out of water past the anti siphon hole as well.
If I close the manifold to the NextReef reactor than everything works fine. The overflow box is still holding water so I am not sure where the siphon is from? The sump can accommodate the water but it's 2" from the top, too close for comfort. The top manifold isn't used, the middle manifold feeds the NextReef reactor (my issue), the bottom one is my return. Under the manifold there is a check valve but it only works when the middle manifold is closed. Did I overlook something? Thanks. Tony |

New Swabbie - Skimmer SCH from AVAST Marine Works
Haven't posted in a while so I figured it's time to update.
Now I get to be even more lazy. Just got this hooked up. Instead of retrofitting it with another lid, I just had them install the Swabbie directly on to my existing skimmer lid. This way I don't have to drill holes for the airline and float switch and it still looks stock. It turned out pretty good and I am looking forward to it. Turn around time was excellent from AVAST Marine. It's currently hooked up to my APEX with the following code I got from another reefer, thanks! Basically, every 4 hours on for 1 minute. Fallback OFF Set OFF OSC 239:00/001:00/000:00 Then ON Last edited by tran383; 09/10/2010 at 12:20 AM. |

Tony if you get the chance send me the link too.
My tank is pretty much complete, just waiting on the lights now. Picking them up this weekend. Your tank is super clean looking. Love it.

Loving this build... I'm currently stockpiling ideas for my upgrade (which probably won't be until another 2 years) and love the after-market self-cleaning skimmer head as well as the plumbing ideas.

I put up two lumenbright pendants with radiums/lumatek ballasts. The tank is pretty much done..just need to automate it more in the future. I'll post some pics in my thread when I get the chance.
Did you start adding fish to you tank yet?

This is a sweet tank/set up. You have convinced me to change my plumbing around to accommodate more with one pump. Also the cleaning skimmer is neat. Mind PM'ing me where you got it?
+1 on LeeMars service, they were able to pick up my cracked tank, fix it and send it back my way all free shipping and handling. I have a new bottom piece of class without the closed loop holes and custom holes inside my overflow box to match my needs free as well. I'd love to see your tank now with everything running. My LeeMar is a 150, thats 48x30x24 and ive been playing around with aquascape so much its sick. I know how that is. Good lookin tank! |

Been extremely busy with work so I haven't had too much time to tinker with the tank nor do I need to at this point. It's pretty low maintenance and I still get a high level of enjoyment from it. Thanks all. Maybe I'll try to upload a few more pix through here, but all my plumbing photos are gone! Plumbing, sump, and equipment pix are always my favorite lol. Tony |
