Anybody know or have an estimate as to what current draw it will take to run 3 of the P-series modules? I have it on order and I'm worried that it'll trip my breaker if it takes more than 10A to run the whole unit.

Would seem a bit outlandish that a 180W LED system would require more current than my Maristar (dual 250W HQI/dual T5) fixture (total Wattage of 608W [250x2 and 54x2]).

Anybody have a best guess estimate as to current draw on just one P series module?

Cheers,
John

I spoke to salty supply guy 9 or 10 days ago. At the time he said he would have them next week (3 days ago they should have got their shipment). Should be anyday now.

Got a call from saltysupply today. Looks like they will be getting them in soon, still don't have an exact date... apparently there was a slight hang up as Maxspect needed to modify the bracket a little bit for rimless aquariums.

Cheers,
John

This is the e-mail I got from Salty Supply:

To our valued customers, the estimated ship date for the first batch of maxspect is around august 3-7th.

Just to let you know of few of the delays.
1. We had to readjust the mount for US tanks. Maxspect did not account for US frames on original mount. I will have pictures over later tonight on the new mounts
2. I had to slow down the shipment until I receive a production sample to go over any other changes.
1. Has to adjust backlight level on controller. It was too bright
2. LED connections were over tight causing some connection issues.
3. Changed to more robust led clamp. First production was recycled plastic became brittle with heat.
4. Cord holders for rails for neat installation was delayed.
5. A few other changes were made, and now finalized.

I want the fixtures to be 100% the first time around, without having to change or reship updates to customers.
We will have a much better finished product with a min of delay. End users will be much happier.

Personally, I'm glad that it is being held for more QA issues so that when we finally get it, it won't be marred by imperfections and frustration. I'd rather wait another 2-3 weeks for a better product than get a flawed product now.

I continue to wait eagerly for my new fixture!!!

Cheers,
John

Got this neat picture... looks like this is the possible system they have in place for line management. Not too shabby. I can live with that!

http://************.com/2011/07/20/m...ra-led-series/

Hmm, link won't work...

Well, search for this on google "Maxspect Mazarra LED branches out into the S and P series" and you should be able to find the page that shows the proposed line management system.

Cheers,
John

Has anyone received theirs yet? Also for those who got the silver, are you worried you will not be able to upgrade since it's a limited edition?

When I talked to Maxpect that other day, they said the "brittle plastic" was from the prototype parts that used recycled plastics. The actual production units are of a different compound. Originally they was trying to be as green as they could, but the recycled was not the best for the application.
I can't wait for mine to arrive.

I think the only difference is that the limited edition comes in the silver color vs. the standard black. I think all other components are the same... so I'm not that worried. I can't imagine they would actually punish early adopters by making it completely incompatible w/ future upgrades/bulbs.... well, at least I hope that is the case.

I can't wait for mine to come!!! Any day now!

Anyone from Europe (Germany) here? I'd like to know if you can import these without paying insane import fees. Most of the online shops ship worldwide, I just never did it. But this LED might be a first.
