I agree, I still do business face to face and I don't mind somebody driving out to my place. I just don't invite strangers into my house. We conduct our business on the porch or in the driveway or maybe in the garage. I do go to other peoples house to pick up stuff from time to time and I've never had a problem. But I am on guard because this is usually a cash transaction with a stranger. Some invite me in, some don't and I could care less either way. I'm there for a reason, not to take a tour of their house. Most people are very good people and a few are odd balls. It's nice to meet other people with the same interest. I've also seen some pretty cool tanks out there going to peoples houses to buy stuff.
My biggest concern isn't nearly as much with fellow hobbyist as it is with people that might use the hobby as a platform to gain access to your home and family. It's one of the same reasons that RC has a 90day and 50 meaningful post policy. To weed out Scam artists that are pretending to be active hobbyist. |

To flip the coin a bit..about 4 years back I had agreed to purchase a few frags from someone on my local club forum..I was new but still had the same policy of hubby going with me or for me. Well the deal had been made in a thread and within about a half an hour of my post about buying the frags I got no less than three pm's telling me NOT to go to this persons house for various reasons..was kinda strange but also nice that people look out for one another..

Lena.yeah they admitted there was no reports by any neighbors..no checking the trash for chemicals etc.The head cop/narc told me the only checking he did was to see how many permits to purchase I had got.I told him yeah and that is my right.them I asked him what in the hell they would of done if I wasn't at home..like leave a note where my front door had been saying Oops.I never did get a were sorry. It made national news.

And for what it's worth, I have no problem letting people into my house. I live with three other guys my age (22-25) so I'm never worried about others. Going to other peoples homes can be interesting. Everybody I've met has been so nice and we always end up talking for 30 minutes or more but I guess it's just a matter of time before I meet a crazy. And I've probably met up with over a dozen local club members of all my ranges.

She plotted the murder of her husband with her son. Her son broke into their home and stabbed his step father 48 times while she was in bed next to him. They both got life without chance of parole. All for life insurance money. Her daughter figured it out and turned them in.
