Smile Update!

I just got a few things today from Premium Aquatics and Bulk Reef Supply.

Tunze Osmolator

Eheim jager 150W Heater

Apex Light with pH Probe (was given as a birthday gift from my best friends )

Tropic Eden Sand: Miniflakes and Reeflakes
Planning on mixing both together. Two parts Reeflakes and one part Miniflakes.

Vertex Titanium Ground Probe

Salifert Test Kits

I also Pre-Ordered the Vertex Omega 150 protein skimmer from Premium Aquatics. Hope to get it in about a month. They said December, not when exactly but close enough.

Looks like Christmas came early for you this year, that skimmer looks really nice.
I really like the fact that it can be fully disassembled.
I had to modify Baby Bottle Brush to clean the inside of my skimmer ....PITA

Ya just a bit early
That was a huge plus for me.
I had an AquaC and it was a pain cleaning that thing.

Just pre-ordered my Reef Dynamics 135 bio-pellet reactor. It's 3 to 4 weeks production time. Good thing they are local. So when it's ready, I'm going to pick it up.
I'm going to write a full detailed review on this rector. Ill post a link once that is ready.

Still waiting on my skimmer to arrive. I'm really anxious to get it.

I run a 1260 on my Cad 50, perfectly sized with 4'-3" of head height.

That's great to hear!
I'm also thinking of running 2 TLF reactors off of the 1260 too.
Would you say that would be airtight or would i lose too much pressure?

I've got mine at close to full volume, but I like a stronger flow through my sump and refugium than many other reefers. For me I would not want to reduce my flow that much, but if you like a slower flow in the sump it would work.

Ill figure it out once i get the pump. Ill see if the flow is too little or not. Reactors don't need more than 100 gph. If so, ill get a separate pump. Want as little pumps as possible.

I run a BRS Duel reactor on mine with a separate Maxijet 900.

I would love to get the dual reactor but it won't fit above my sump or the new stand. That's why I'll be hooking up 2 TLF reactors.

Can't you get a 1262 volute for a 1260 pump? I believe that there is a 1262/1260 for sale on the used forum.

You could also go to Eco System they are about two blocks away, and then go to the Hat for a Pastrami sandwich.

That sounds amazing
I might just do that. Thanks

I'll try to find the pump. 1262 is a bit strong though. I have a Mag 9.5 now and I just want a slower flow. Need that longer contact time with bio pellets and skimmer.

Hey bud, again thanks for your help on my overflow. Quick tip in pumps... I decided on the Eheim Compact+ 3000 and really like it. It's very quiet and has more than enough flow for my TLF 150 reactor (t-fitting from return line) and great circulation in the tank. It also has a valve feature built into the pump so that you can adjust the flow. I run mine full...

Smile Update!!!

It’s the time we all love. When UPS and FedEx ring your bell to drop off your packages.
One step closer to running my tank

So I ended up picking up the Vertex Omega 150. I Pre-Ordered it about a month and a half ago.
I am very impressed with the build quality so far. Feels really solid. I just want to see it in action.
So far I have heard it pulls out a massive amount of gunk and that it is super quiet.
Here’s a few pictures from all sides. They said the foot print is 11 x 11 but I didn’t believe it because of how it’s built. My skimmer chamber is 10 x 19.5, so I took the risk and bought it. It fit perfectly and I still had some room left. I measured it and it was actually 9 x 11.5 and that’s including the pump bracket. Without it, I would say it would be about 11” long.
I will be also picking up the Vertex Vectra Neck Cleaner next. Have one less thing not to worry about for a while.

Look how much more room there is left inside a 10" wide chamber.

So instead of going with the BRS reactor, I built my own from Freshwatersystems.com. BRS reactor comes with a pump and valve I wasn’t going to use. So I got a standard Pentek 10” 3G Slim housing with release valve. I picked up the clear BRS refillable cartridge though. It fit like a glove inside this housing. I also got fittings the way I wanted them because of the way it’s going to be placed in my second stand.
The reactor will be running off my return pump. I picked up a neat valve, it’s ¾” MPT to ½” Push-Connect. Went to Home Depot and found a ¾” slip x threaded x slip T-fitting. I will post pictures once I finish that.

I also picked up a wireless bridge for my Apex since it’s not wireless. It’s the Netgear WNCE3001 Universal Dual Band Wireless Adapter. Since my router is upstairs in my room and the tank is down stairs, I wasn’t going to drag a 50 foot cable through my house. So I needed something good range.
I already tried it out and it works great!
Definitely recommend it if you want to go wireless.

I also picked up my first Vortech MP10w ES. I will get one more on my next purchase.

This is my new return my pump that is going to replace my Mag Drive 9.5. It’s the Eheim 1262. This thing is massive compared to my Mag Drive. I will be hard plumbing this pump.

I should be getting my reef Dynamics 150 bio pellet reactor next week. Just waiting for them to call me to pick it up.
Still have to build the second stand, build my ATO reservoir, get another EB8 for the Apex, get another MP10. I will get my dosing pumps and LED fixture at the same time.
That’s about it for now

You know that BRS does sell them without the pumps, right?

I am thinking about getting the 70g artisan tank from cadlights.. Do you recommend there tanks? I wont be using there stand though as I have a solid built stand already.

Thanks bud : )
I bought 30 pounds but I'll be only using 15. The other 15 will go inside my new nano.

Their tanks are amazing. I highly recommend them.
