On a side note, I ordered my SCA-302 Skimmer, so hopefully it will be here next week. I also got a bit of staining done as well. This sanding, sealing, staining, and polyurethane has been a little more time consuming than I have anticipated. I hope to get my sump built next week. I just have to figure out my baffle height, and get the glass cut. I was considering doing it like this, overflow, return, fuge, with the fuge being fed off a tee from my return pump. Are there any real advantages to this setup, or should I go with the traditional sump?

All right guys, this was home when I got back today. I don't really have much to add, as I have not got to finish staining the stand as of yet. I need to get that done so I can plumb it, hang my light, and get this baby going. It's a slow, but enjoyable process though.

Alright, here is another update. I plan on getting the stand stained this weekend as I have been pretty busy lately. However, I did get my rock aquascaped, put the skimmer in my current tank's sump to get it breaking in, and have picked up a few other goodies like a carbon/gfo reactor.

Skimmer

In the old sump breaking in.

Rockwork

Reactor, and filter sock

Yes, but doing it right is rewarding in the end.
I'm going to be moving the big tank soon from off the wall to room divider. I can't get to the back of the closed loop plumbing, and I can't stand it.

Well, I was able to work on the sump yesterday. It is a 20 gallon high, the baffles are 9x11.75 times 2 of them, and 1 that is 10.5x11.75. It was an easy build, and fun to boot!

I'm hoping to get my skimmer stand built today, and I want to finish staining the stand this weekend. Let's see how it goes.

Ok, I went to Sutherlands today and picked up some odds and ends. I decided to use a 1/2 inch EMT conduit to build my light holder out of. I wanted a simple clean look, and even used the bender in the electrical isle. I still have to paint it black, and find some sort of decorative nut for the end of it, but you get the idea.

I figured I would do a little updating. The tank is going a bit slower than I would like, but that's ok. Between work, kids sports, and I started taking a couple of new classes, my time spent building has slowed down. I am getting there though.

Here is the stand, I need to do one more coat of stain, then polyurethane it. This is the shelf side, which as you can see I have not stained them yet. Nor have I done the doors either.

Back side, I have to drill some more holes for plumbing, and the fans.

Electronic wall side

Sump area, and I am building my manifold.

Here is a couple of random shots of the rockwork again.

It looks way better in person, I need to figure out how to angle the rockwork properly to make it look better.

This is the tank that I will use to temporarily house my corals and fish, as I break down the 110, and set up the cube. It's a 58 corner. Hopefully, I will get it setup this weekend and begin fragging my corals.

Random picture of wifey poo this morning. She was teasing me about taking pictures of my "fish stuff" so I shot a picture of her too!

Hey Mr9Iron, you might remember me from the JBJ 28G Nanocube days! Glad to have found your build thread! I love cube tanks, and for my next tank I will be going with a 93G cube.

Your buddy has amazing woodworking skills; that cabinet is just amazing. Love the different compartments and the detail put into the design.

Really look forward to seeing this tank progress.

Sahin, I do remember you from the JBJ 28 Nano cube days. I can't remember how long it's been since I started that thread, but it is fun to see that it is still going. It kind of reminds me of the 7 gallon bowfront nano thread to.

Thanks for the compliments on the cabinet. Lee has some of the best woodworking skills that I have ever seen. He truly has a talent, and does it for fun. I'm getting excited about getting this tank wet. I got my temp tank cleaned and placed yesterday, now I just have to add saltwater and get all of it's parameters in check. Oh, and I am going to have a major fragging going on when I take the corals out and put them in this tank.

I am beginning to feel that I have to many projects going on at once. Lol.

Allrigh, she's not pretty, but I am getting the temporary holding system put together. I still have to wire up the RKL for it, and finish filling it with tank water, established LR, and get the heater in it.

I did a couple of coats poly on the back, and one side of the stand. A 4 probe holder, a 4 dosing line holder, and frag rack came in from Geo today. I broke the dang frag rack after two twists of the screw, but Geo has been kind enough to get me another one in the mail today. He said I was the first to break one of these things. Leave it to me to break something.

Maybe next week I can start fragging and moving my livestock into the temp tank, so that I can break down the 110 and continue working on my cube. I really don't think there are enough hours in the day.

Wow you are very lucky to have a guy like Lee-that stand is gorgeous! Now you just need a bigger tank

I stumbled on your thread and I am glad I did. Keep the pics coming! Did Lee have a sketch in mind or did he just wing it?
