I have a pair of Matted Filefish.
Very interesting couple, they are all over the tank together. I wish they'd eat more dang Aiptasia, though.

Filefish are supposed to be shy and considering I have a pretty aggressive tank, you'd think he would hide all the time but he actually is out most of the time. One of the best tank mates I've ever had - not to mention he cured my aiptasia issues
Yea uh huh, oh did I mention that my clowns can talk to me? I tried to get a video of it, but it was like trying to catch a politician be honest on camera, they didn't say a word.

Do not doubt the Filefish - if you do, he will put a hex on your clowns.

They'd probably go straight for my closed loop strainers.
I have a PaulB Majano Wand that works quite well also. I'm moving the tank across the room next week and am borrowing a Raccoon Butterfly until it comes apart.

Some anthias are nigh impossible to keep, either singly or in groups, others not so much. BUT, requires frequent feedings, lots of swimming room, and recognition that despite this intra-group aggression may still winnow them down.

What do you consider a large tank for a school of anthias?

Assuming you mean 'large enough', then your 265 is plenty of tank for 8 -10. I have 8 in mine (40 fish total).

I have to agree on Chromis. You will end up with les than you put in almost guaranteed. I had 5 and now only have 2.

I put a RBTA in my 240 that has been only running for a little over a month (cycle complete) and have not had any issues. By the way, it did split once I added it to my tank. I now have them doing well.

I have kept 11 anthias and 10 chromis in my 180. Before that they were in my 90. I think it's hit and miss with schooling fish

I think it's more miss than hit. In a 180 I could maybe see it but in a 90 it's hard to imagine 21 of those fish. Must look very cool. Any pictures of them shoaling?

I doubt they meant isopods. They don't really crawl around like copepods and amphipods. I'm guessing they meant amphipods.

Not all isopods are bad though. I used to have a couple small ones in my tank that never bothered my fish. (Doesn't mean I let them stay in the tank though! ) They're fast little swimmers, seem to be very aware of movement around them, and difficult to catch.

My dwarf lion fish used to do the same thing he would swim in place with the power head then all of a sudden go flying and would do this multiple times.
