I hadn't given the automatic water change systems any thought (renew) until just recently. The prices are actually not quite as high as I had initially feared. I am beginning to give it some thought... especially for when I do a tank up-size.

Yes..full syphon ....look like I will have to drop the sump to fit all the 6 pipes higher than it.Just caught it....I guess these things crop up when you finally start dry fitting things!

You're going to be so happy you built that walk board. I did something very similar with my in-wall build and it has been absolutely critical as my stand is 41" tall... and I'm only 5'9". :0)

It does make a lot of sense,especially when aquascaping. I do have a little flex in the support rods so I will have to build up my confidence a little..or maybe throw a 2x4 under the walkboard

You can possibly do some kind of fold out 2x4 so that when you pull up the cat walk it would extend the 2x4's as well, giving you the added assurance that it is sturdy. May not be necessary, but just throwing it out there.

I too would recommend some support legs on the platform. The aluminum under stress of the tank and that external load could bend a little. Probably not much though. Meh, it'll probably be fine come to think of it. That's some thick walled tubing you've used.
