I'll let you know how my tank fairs, but I'm going to add a third A360we to my tank and angle the two outside lights towards the center of the tank. I'm hoping this will reduce shadowing significantly. I'd love to get an AP700, but $$$$. I can't justify T5 bulb changes either.

I picked up my ATI 4x24 for $175 with new bulbs in perfect condition - keep an eye out!

So now I'm running the ATI 4x24w (so 96w total) and two Kessil A360NEs that run for 14 hours and peak at ~70%.

Is shading really an issue? I thought there was at least some energy exchange amongst the organisms in the same coral mass?

Got it - thx. I was having the same shadowing problem with an ecotech I had. Glad to see the positive response from your corals with the T5 addition.

Yeah. I've yet to see a picture of a real reef without "coral shading". But I guess the sun being on a light mover helps.

Added a third Kessil A360we to my 36in long tank. I angled the two outer units inward and the shadowing is greatly reduced and overall diffused lighting has increased. So you need one Kessil per foot of tank for the wide series which is one foot less per what Kessil says they can cover.

I have an old 36" coralife t5 fixture I used back on my FW tank, what kind of bulbs would you run to supplement LEDs?

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I'm currently running two Kessils, but have been trying to decide if I should add a two bulb fixture to the front of the tank or just go with a six bulb fixture and ditch the Kessil's. Could you post a pic of how you currently have all your light mounted?

I am currently running 2 Kessil A360WE on my 2ft cube and my SPS either lose colour by turning brown, lose polyp extension or grow very very slowly if not at all. I'm thinking of adding 2 T5s either side of the Kessils, do you think this would be overkill for my sized aquarium?

My current light cycle is below which I have implemented 3 days ago as in my old cycle I wasn't giving enough intensity for long enough.

Colour Intensity

11:00 0% 5%
13:00 10% 35%
14:00 50% 75%
19:00 50% 75%
20:00 30% 35%

I run my 360we's bluer and lower intensity. I'd lower intensity. I go no higher than 40% intensity on my 21in deep tank. I have an acropora that is growing like crazy with insane polyp extension.

I see. Must be something else then and not my lighting. I cannot pin point what's causing my SPS to do so badly in comparison to my other corals, all water params are fine etc...

I'll be the first to admit, I'm kind of wishing I didn't get sold on the LED hype and just went with a big T5 fixture, but I went with 2 AI Hyrda 52's instead. If I would have done 3 or 4 52's I think it would be awesome, but mounting them was done prior to the tank having water in it and now I can't get behind the stand to mount 2 more rail systems for 2 more lights, so I'm kind of stuck. I'd really like to add t5 to my LED's and I think that's where the magic would really happen.

Don't get me wrong, my reef is growing and is bright, but I feel like there's too many variables and control points with my lights at least. There is something to be said for having on/off switches and using the correct bulbs, but I didn't want the time and expense of changing bulbs, etc.

Hence why I love my Kessil A360's. Set the intensity and color I like, but keep the correct spectrum for corals. Bam. Success.
